This document describes the basic structure of a solar cell. It has a glass substrate with a tin oxide coating that is doped with fluorine to make it n-type. A p-type layer is deposited on the tin oxide. A metal contact is placed on the p-type layer to collect current. The solar cell has an encapsulant and a back glass to protect the components.
