Skill 5 Order of Operations Pages 62-63-63a in the book
Expect to have a multiplication problem with decimals. Notice how to place the decimal
in the answer.
The order of operations tells us what to do and in what order to do it so that
we all get the same answer to a problem.
Here is that order:
Start at the left side and move from left to right (like a scanner would) for each step.
Parentheses with operations inside like (3 + 5)
Exponents
Multiply and divide as you come to them from left to right
Add and subtract as you come to them from left to right
Look at the worked out examples on page 63 and 63a.
I have put the worked out answers to page 63a on the next pages.
Take your time and go slow. See how much work I did on each one. Remember that no
calculator is used on this part.
