Electric cars and battery technology
Electric car batteries may soon see improvements in efficiency and charging times from an Israeli startup called StoreDot. StoreDot claims it can increase battery capacity by 50% and reduce charging times to just 5 minutes. Major companies like Samsung have invested $18 million in StoreDot's technology, which uses peptides as miniature capacitors at the nanoscale to enable longer battery life and faster charging for electric vehicles and mobile devices. StoreDot plans to demonstrate its battery technology in electric cars at an event in Israel in 2016.

Energy efficiency and renewable energies contribute to energy security, sustainability, and competitiveness. They reduce energy dependency and the impact of volatile fossil fuel prices. A transition to these solutions also leads to lower greenhouse gas emissions. Investing in energy efficiency provides immediate benefits and costs less than other emissions reduction strategies. Greater energy efficiency has improved Spain's competitiveness by reducing its energy intensity over the past 15 years, in line with the European trend. Renewable energy costs are expected to sharply decline in the next decade as well, further enhancing competitiveness.

Electric cars and battery technology
Electric car batteries may soon see improvements in efficiency and charging times from an Israeli startup called StoreDot. StoreDot claims it can increase battery capacity by 50% and reduce charging times to just 5 minutes. Major companies like Samsung have invested $18 million in StoreDot's technology, which uses peptides as miniature capacitors at the nanoscale to enable longer battery life and faster charging for electric vehicles and mobile devices. StoreDot plans to demonstrate its battery technology in electric cars at an event in Israel in 2016.

Singapore’s electricity market to be made more responsive to demand By: Information Daily Staff Writer Published: Wednesday, October 24, 2012 - 12:19 GMT The government is launching, through the Energy Market Authority, a consultation process incorporating demand response, where consumers can curtail their demand in response to high prices. Announcing this at the Singapore Energy Summit on Monday, S. Iswaran, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, said that such a market for forward electricity products will complement Singapore's wholesale market.
