This document summarizes a student's scavenger hunt to find examples of simple machines around their house. The student found examples of six simple machines - a wheel and axle from a car wheel, a pulley from shoelaces and tape, a wedge from a pin and knife, a screw from a light bulb and bottle lid, a lever from a light switch and scissors, and an inclined plane from staircases and a sink. The student also found two examples of compound machines - a lighter combining a wheel and lever, and scissors combining a lever and wedge.
