This document summarizes a student's scavenger hunt finding examples of simple machines around their house. The student found examples of six simple machines - a wheel and axle in a car tire, a pulley in shoelaces and tape, a wedge in a pin and knife, a screw in a light bulb and bottle lid, a lever in a light switch and scissors, and an inclined plane in staircases and a sink. The student also found two examples of compound machines, a lighter combining a wheel and lever, and scissors combining a lever and wedge.
