This evening's worship text was shared by Kelly Campbell and was based on the account recorded in Luke 7:36-50, contrasting the hearts of a Pharisee and a sinful woman.
A woman who was known in her town as a sinner came to a dinner where Jesus was a guest. She cried at his feet, wiping them with her hair and kissing them. The host Pharisee was indignant at her touching Jesus. Jesus told a parable about forgiveness of debt to illustrate that those who are forgiven much love much. He said the woman's sins were forgiven because she loved greatly, unlike the Pharisee who had been forgiven little. Jesus affirmed that true wisdom is shown through acts of love rather than moralism.
Jesus visits the home of a Pharisee for dinner. A sinful woman enters and washes Jesus' feet with her tears, drying them with her hair. The Pharisee questions Jesus' prophetic abilities for allowing a sinner to touch him. Jesus tells a parable of two debtors forgiven different amounts to explain that those forgiven more show greater love. He forgives the woman's sins, sparking debate about his authority to forgive.
This document discusses occasions in the New Testament where individuals wept, and the spiritual lessons that can be learned from them. It examines Jesus weeping over Jerusalem because the people had rejected him, Peter weeping bitterly after denying Jesus, and Paul weeping as he thought about those who had disobeyed the gospel. The overall message is that we should weep over our own sins and the state of those who are lost, as it shows we understand our need for repentance and salvation.
Jesus was invited to dinner at the house of a Pharisee. While there, a woman who was known as a sinner in the town came and washed Jesus' feet with her tears, dried them with her hair, and anointed them with perfume. The Pharisee was indignant, believing that if Jesus were truly a prophet he would know the kind of woman touching him and that she was a sinner. Jesus told a parable about forgiveness in response, saying that those who are forgiven much, love much in return.
Jesus heals a man with abnormal swelling on the Sabbath in order to demonstrate that doing good works is permitted on the Sabbath. He tells a parable about humility, encouraging people to take the lowest place at a feast so as not to be humiliated. Jesus then instructs a host not to invite friends and family to a feast but rather to invite the poor, crippled, lame and blind, who cannot repay the invitation. When one guest remarks that they are blessed to dine in God's kingdom, Jesus tells a parable about a man who invites many guests to a banquet but they make excuses, so he tells his servant to invite others from the streets instead.
This document summarizes a passage from Luke 7:36-50 where Jesus has a meal at the house of a Pharisee. During the meal, a sinful woman anoints Jesus' feet with oil and her tears. The Pharisee criticizes Jesus for allowing a sinner to touch him. Jesus tells a parable about forgiveness to illustrate that those who are forgiven much, love much. He forgives the woman's sins, changing her life. When God is in the house, people know it and want to be there, and lives are changed.

I. Jesus asks a Samaritan woman for a drink at Jacob's well at noon, despite Jews normally not interacting with Samaritans.
II. The woman questions why Jesus, as a Jew, is asking her for water.
III. Jesus tells her that if she knew who he was, she would be asking him for "living water" instead. He implies that he can offer her something greater than the physical water from the well.
The document discusses unashamed adoration of Jesus without inhibition or constraint. It describes two incidents from the Bible where women extravagantly worshipped Jesus, anointing him with expensive perfume, which offended some religious people. However, Jesus defended the women's actions. The document says the two hindrances to unashamed adoration are religious offence caused by the actions of shameful or generous people. It provides two helps: being filled with the Holy Spirit and focused on Jesus and his sacrifice.

This document contains summaries of interactions between Jesus and several individuals in the Bible. John the Baptist recognizes Jesus as the Messiah. Andrew then finds his brother Simon Peter and tells him they have found the Messiah. A man who was born blind describes how Jesus healed him. Zacchaeus decides to repay those he has wronged after Jesus visits his home. An adulterous woman is forgiven by Jesus after others wanted to condemn her. The document encourages becoming a witness for Jesus through sharing how one's life has changed by knowing him.
Jesus likely used humor in his teachings to engage with crowds and draw more people in. However, much of the humor from his time does not translate well due to issues with translation, oral transmission of stories, and lack of understanding tone and delivery. The New Testament shows evidence that Jesus used puns, humorous anecdotes, irony, hyperbole, and humorous parables. Whether all of these instances were meant as humor is still debated.
Pastor Josh Swafford gave a sermon about Luke 14:15-24 where Jesus tells a parable about a man who holds a great banquet but many of the invited guests make excuses for why they cannot attend. The pastor says this parable represents God inviting many to the kingdom of heaven through the gospel message, but some reject it due to excuses like material possessions, business deals, or personal agendas. The pastor warns that people should not let pride keep them from accepting God's invitation to heaven. He also says that pastors should not let pride keep them from their calling to preach the gospel.
This document provides snapshots about the apostle John, including that he was known as the disciple Jesus loved, he wrote the Gospel of John, three epistles, and the book of Revelation. It discusses how John was passionate about truth and balancing it with love. While zeal for truth can become judgmental, John showed the importance of maintaining compassion. The document also emphasizes that a person's identity is found in Jesus' love for them, not in appearances, achievements, or social status.
Jesus attends a dinner party hosted by a prominent Pharisee, where he is carefully watched by those hoping to catch him breaking religious laws. When a sick man with dropsy is brought before Jesus, he instantly heals the man without saying a word. When questioned by the Pharisees about healing on the Sabbath, Jesus points out their own hypocrisy in being willing to rescue an animal in need on the Sabbath. He then exposes the social climbing and selfish motives of the guests and host. Through parables, Jesus warns them about ignoring God's invitation and criticizes their ignorance of the truth.

The sermon contrasts the wisdom of living according to God's teachings with the folly of living according to one's own desires, which seems right but leads to death. It warns about the temptations of "Folly", who calls out to those lacking understanding to engage in sinful acts in secret, not realizing it is the path to misery.

We claim to be “loving” people, but often what that really means is that we “love” people who already “love” us. That kind of “love” is not love at all. It is “need.” All the while we consider ourselves “good people.” This week, we’ll look at a snapshot of a man, and you may find you think and act a whole lot like him!
A woman known as a sinner comes to a dinner where Jesus is eating at a Pharisee's house. She washes his feet with her tears, drying them with her hair and kissing his feet. The Pharisee is indignant that Jesus would let such a sinful woman touch him. Jesus tells a parable about forgiveness of debt to illustrate that those who are forgiven much, love much. He tells the Pharisee that the woman's sins are forgiven because of her faith and love, so she should go in peace.

This message is Part 3 in Pastor Chuck Bernal's series, "JESUS is _____________". The message is titled, "JESUS is your Friend". Pastor Chuck discusses how the religious leaders of the day criticized Jesus for befriending "bad" people and how Jesus revealed what God is truly like by showing grace, mercy, love and forgiveness to everyone - no matter what they had done. The message has a two-fold purpose: 1. To show that Jesus loves us just as we are and 2. To show we must have the same mindset and attitude toward others that Jesus had. This message was delivered at LifePointe Church on Sunday, March 6, 2016.
This document summarizes and reflects on the biblical story of a sinful woman anointing Jesus's feet. It tells of how the woman, after learning Jesus was at a Pharisee's house, came and wept at his feet, drying them with her hair and pouring perfume on them. The Pharisee judged her as a sinner, but Jesus defended her and said her great love showed her many sins were forgiven. The document emphasizes that we can only love because God first loved us, and that our relationships need more than just social gestures but the receiving and giving of love.
Luke provides a concise summary of key events from Jesus' infancy according to his gospel:
1) John the Baptist's and Jesus' births were foretold, with Jesus' divine origin emphasized;
2) Jesus was born in Bethlehem and his birth was announced to shepherds;
3) Jesus was presented at the Temple where he was recognized by Simeon and Anna.
This document provides a summary and analysis of a passage from the Gospel of Mark about a woman anointing Jesus with expensive perfume. The summary is:
1) The passage describes a woman bringing an alabaster jar of expensive perfume and pouring it over Jesus' head, which some present saw as a waste but Jesus defended as a good deed.
2) The author analyzes this passage alongside parallel accounts in the other Gospels, concluding that the woman, Mary, anointed Jesus twice - once earlier to receive forgiveness, and again later to honor him as he prepared to die.
3) The woman is praised for her lavish, sacrificial, and unembarrassed worship of

At the well she encounters Jesus. Jesus speaks with her for a while and she is deeply touched by this casual but transforming conversation.
The first thing to note is that the very fact of Jesus speaking to her touched her. She was a Samaritan woman and Jesus was a Jewish man.
What truly seemed to touch her was that within the context of Jesus knowing all about her, all the sins of her past life and her broken relationships, He still treated her with the greatest respect and dignity.
But here was Jesus. He knew all about her but wanted to give her Living Water nonetheless.
It began to be quenched because what she really needed, what we all need, is this perfect love and acceptance that Jesus offers. He offered it to her, and He offers it to us.
Lord, You are the Living Water that my soul needs. May I meet You in the heat of my day, in the trials of life, and in my shame and guilt. May I encounter Your love, gentleness and acceptance in these moments, and may that Love become the source of my new life in You. Jesus, I trust in You. Amen.

The service will include the waving of palm branches, congregational hymns, a dramatic reading of the Passion Gospel, and an affirmation of faith before closing with prayers and an invitation to fellowship.
Jesus is born in Bethlehem to Mary and Joseph. The three wise men follow a star to bring gifts to the newborn king. As a young boy, Jesus amazes religious scholars with his knowledge. He is baptized by John the Baptist, calls his first disciples, and performs miracles like turning water to wine. Jesus teaches in parables and has compassion for outcasts, angering religious leaders. He feeds thousands and walks on water, proving his divine power. Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead, and after the Last Supper is crucified but rises again three days later, appearing to his disciples before ascending to heaven.
Bob Goff said, "We will never honor Christ if we forget how to honor one another!" We should certainly understand our need to honor and reverence God but the New Testament shows an honor and reverence between brothers and sisters in Christ. It was the Golden Rule on steroids! "Do unto others as you would have them do to you" was the foundation of all their relationships with one another. How do we get that back into the church today?
What is the real message of this little one chapter book? it is the story of forgiveness - Philemon had to forgive Philemon to receive him back. it is a story of reconciliation - restoring a relationship that had been lost. And it is a story of a changed relationship - from slave to brother; from master to brother!
Giving is important for several reasons according to the document: it makes us more like God by imitating His generous nature, it draws us closer to God spiritually, it strengthens our faith in God's provision, and it is an investment in eternal rewards. Giving also reveals our level of spiritual maturity in following Christ's example of sacrificial giving.
The "little" book of Philemon is "huge" in teaching! When Paul wrote to Philemon he had an important message to send but he needed a way to reach a man like Philemon. In this message we dissect Paul's way of reaching Philemon with the truth of forgiveness, reconciliation and changed relationships.
Have you heard the fairy tale of the "Little Red Hen?" In this tale, the hen seeks help to being food to the barnyard but none of her friends will help. She goes out alone and finds the wheat, plants it, tends to it, cuts it, has it milled and bakes the cake. After the cake is made, everyone wants a piece but she says no! Is this how God treats us?
Giving is how we show gratitude for all that God has given to us. Giving is probably the greatest shortfall in the average Christian's life, especially here in the United States. The principles of giving are simple to understand, difficult to carry out because of our lack of faith and our greed. We are to give as we have prospered, as we have purposed and cheerfully.
The document summarizes portions of the book of Nehemiah, beginning with Nehemiah hearing a report that the walls of Jerusalem were broken down and the city was in distress. Nehemiah wept and prayed to God about this. He received permission from the king to go rebuild Jerusalem. Nehemiah rallied the people to rebuild the walls, which they completed in just 52 days despite opposition. The document then lists some lessons from Nehemiah, including having a vision to accomplish good, enlisting help from all, and that the people had a mind to work.
The passage encourages unity, joy, gentleness, and prayer. It urges the reader to imitate Paul and focus on things true, honorable, and commendable. It promises God's peace for those who bring requests to Him without anxiety through prayer and thanksgiving.
Among all the kings of Judah and Israel, there were very few who "did what was right." Hezekiah was one of the good kings! Even though his father was evil, Hezekiah ushered in a period of spiritual renewal. Every renewal or awakening begins with one person and it is without regard to their ancestry. Every renewal begins with a return to God's word and has an effect on generations to come. Are you the one to begin our next "spiritual awakening?"
When the teacher called on you, were you ready? When we are called upon in the Kingdom of God, we should be ready. We should always be ready to meet God on His terms; We should always be ready to give an answer for the hope that lies within us; and we should always be ready for the Lord's return.
How do we define prosperity? It depends on whether we are defining according to God's word or the world's ideas. There is a worldly prosperity and there is a spiritual prosperity. What produces spiritual prosperity? Meditating on and obeying God's word; faith in God and His word; being content with Godliness and what He has given us. What is the value of spiritual prosperity? It abides and produces true success.
When we become Christ followers the old man is destroyed and the new man begins to emerge. In Ephesians 4:22-32 Paul describes this new nature: no lying, no sinful anger, no stealing, no corrupt words, no grieving the Holy Spirit, no bitterness and wrath but rather a kindness toward one another. Is the New Man showing in you?
The document discusses different "roads" or paths that Christians may take, including roads of persecution, poverty, suffering, and loss. It notes that Jesus said he is the only way to God and salvation. Several passages from the book of John are presented, including Jesus telling Peter to follow him. The document emphasizes that individuals should not compare their road to others' but trust that God puts them where they need to be, and the most important thing is to follow Jesus, regardless of one's circumstances.
Jesus' letters to the seven churches in Asia are a roadmap for struggles in the 21st Century church. To the church in Ephesus He had one thing against them: They had left their "first love." What does this mean? Why is love so important? What might have happened to their "first love?" and what is Jesus' exhortation to that church?
Mourning is an indescribable ache to the heart. Mourning is a great time to learn God's compassion because He hurts when we hurt; God's faithfulness because He will never leave us; God's comfort because He yearns to comfort us.
What is stopping you from giving yourself entirely to God? For some it is the pursuit of wealth. For others, it may be the pursuit of pleasure. Still others may be fearful of what others will think and say while others just want to be in control of their own lives. Whatever stands in your way of giving yourself completely to God, remove it!
This passage from 1 Corinthians discusses the proper foundation for faith and spiritual growth. Paul explains that some in the Corinthian church were still immature and divisive, arguing over whether they followed Paul or Apollos. However, Paul and Apollos are merely ministers who planted and watered the seeds of faith; ultimately, God causes the growth. The only sure foundation is Jesus Christ. All other foundations built on human works, righteousness, or traditions will fail. Believers should build on Christ alone through faith, not on their own goodness or spiritual accomplishments.
2nd in a 2-part series. Surrendering ourselves to God, giving up control and letting God do what God does. In part 2 we are encouraged to T.R.U.S.T. (totaling relying upon something true) God and to realize that God has set us free in Christ Jesus.
Paul to told Timothy to "Study to show yourself approved by God, a workman doesn't need to be ashamed handling the word of God correctly." Aren't we all supposed to be workers in the Kingdom, workers of God? What are the characteristics of God's workmen? They don't spend time arguing, they seek God's approval and they avoid error.
Life in 2018 is chaotic and stressful, especially for teenagers. How do we cope? Anxiety is real, anxiety and panic attacks are real and can be debilitating. How do we overcome? First we have to realize we are not in control! But God is! When we become anxious and fearful: stop. breathe. Jesus! Love is > fear!

Lição 12: João 15 a 17 – O Espírito Santo e a Oração Sacerdotal | 2° Trimestr...OmarBarrezueta1

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.

Introduction
Mantra Yoga is an exact science. "Mananat trayate iti mantrah- by the Manana (constant thinking or recollection) of which one is protected or is released from the round of births and deaths, is Mantra." That is called Mantra by the meditation (Manana) on which the Jiva or the individual soul attains freedom from sin, enjoyment in heaven and final liberation, and by the aid of which it attains in full the fourfold fruit (Chaturvarga), i.e., Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. A Mantra is so called because it is achieved by the mental process.
Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.

This book is one of the best of the translated ones, for it has a warning character for all those who find themselves in the experience of material life. Irmão X provides a shrewd way of describing the subtleties and weaknesses that can jeopardize our intentions, making us more attentive and vigilant by providing us with his wise pages, reminding us between the lines of the Master's words: "Pray and watch."
The Book of Revelation, filled with symbolic and apocalyptic imagery, presents one of its most striking visions in Revelation 9:3-12—the locust army. Understanding the significance of this locust army provides insight into the broader themes of divine judgment, protection, and the ultimate triumph of God’s will as depicted in Revelation.
