In a number of Engineering applications, there are certain governing variables that bear the potential to possess a major part of the control towards the success of the process. Some of these variables may be independent while others are dependent on each other is some or the other manner. In applications involving metered quantity of fluid flow, radiation heat transfer and so on, one of such governing variables is the flow rate. Flow rate may refer to that of any fluid or radiation or solids in certain cases. As flow rate depends on the area of opening that is available for flow, it is customary to either determine the area of opening or that of obscuration. In this paper, initially the physical significance of area of obscuration in applications related to fluid flow, radiation heat transfer, packaging applications and photo sensors shall be elaborated to establish a premise for the later derived general expression for determination of the area of obscuration for a combination of two circles with different radii, with one placed at any arbitrary point in space. This general expression shall be deemed to be applicable for provided certain necessary condition is met with respect the relation between the radii of the two circles and the distance between their centres. The derived general formula shall be verified towards the end to confirm the validity for any arbitrary case. Recent advancements in the field of computational fluid mechanics and the availability of high performance with regard to rotating software computing cylinders (RCs) have drawn attention to the field of flow accelerated corrosion. (FAC). Current studies aim to numerically predict turbulent flow characteristics around the rotating cylinder and the concomitant effects on the wall shear stresses and local mass fraction of inhibitors that are directly related to corrosion rate. This 3-D numerical investigation was carried out using the commercial CFX package from which the where SST turbulence model was selected to compute the unknown Reynolds stresses term in the incompressible and viscid form of the Navier-Stokes equation. The effect of three different cylinder rotation speeds and three brine temperatures on the wall shear stress and on brine mixing is reported. Results of the simulations revealed that both cylinder rotation speed and the temperature of the brine significantly affect wall shear stress and mixing of the inhibitor that in turn affects corrosion rate
On March 11, 2016, ICLR held a Friday Forum workshop entitled 'Mapping extreme rainfall statistics for Canada', led by Dr. Slobodan Simonovic of Western University.
Climate change is expected to increase the frequency and intensity of extreme rainfall events, affecting rainfall intensity-duration-frequency (IDF) curve information used in the design, maintenance and operation of water infrastructure in Canada. Presented in this lecture are analyses of precipitation data from 567 Environment Canada hydro-meteorological stations using the IDF_CC tool. Results for the year 2100 based on Canadian climate model and an ensemble of 22 GCMs have been generated. A spatial interpolation method was used to produce Canadian precipitation maps for events of various return periods. Results based on the Canadian climate model indicate a reduction in extreme precipitation in central regions of Canada and increases in other regions. Relative to the ensemble approach, the Canadian climate model results (a) suggest more spatial variability in change of IDFs, and (b) the ensemble approach generated generally lower values than the Canadian climate model.
Dr. Simonovic has extensive research, teaching and consulting experience in water resources systems engineering. He teaches courses in water resources and civil engineering systems. He actively works for national and international professional organizations. Dr. Simonovic’s primary research interest focuses on the application of systems approach to management of complex water and environmental systems. Most of his work is related to the integration of risk, reliability, and uncertainty in hydrology and water resources management. He has received a number of awards for excellence in teaching, research and outreach. He has published over 450 professional publications and three major textbooks. He was inducted to the Canadian Academy of Engineering in June of 2013.
Concentration measurements of bubbles in a water column using an optical tomo...ISA Interchange
Optical tomography provides a means for the determination of the spatial distribution of materials with different optical density in a volume by non-intrusive means. This paper presents results of concentration measurements of gas bubbles in a water column using an optical tomography system. A hydraulic flow rig is used to generate vertical air–water two-phase flows with controllable bubble flow rate. Two approaches are investigated. The first aims to obtain an average gas concentration at the measurement section, the second aims to obtain a gas distribution profile by using tomographic imaging. A hybrid back-projection algorithm is used to calculate concentration profiles from measured sensor values to provide a tomographic image of the measurement cross-section. The algorithm combines the characteristic of an optical sensor as a hard field sensor and the linear back projection algorithm.

Relation between Area of Opening and Range of Splash of Testing Fluid during ...ijtsrd
Determination of relations between various variables is necessary while designing any experiment. Various methods may be employed depending on the availability of resources at the experimental setup. However, while the experiment is being designed, it is equally important that the same is backed by theoretical formulae. If not derived or proved already, new ones can definitely be derived using first principles. In this study, a relation between the area of opening and range of splash shall be derived. The aim of this relation shall be to get a basic comprehension of the variation in parameters in relation to the range of splash of testing fluid. The concepts of range of splash and area of opening shall be reported at the initial stage. The area of opening shall then be determined using the method of integration considering variables involved in the formulation. On obtaining an expression, a relation between the area of opening and the range of splash shall be derived. Towards the end a conclusion shall be drawn reporting the proportional relations between the variables. Building Programming Abstractions for Wireless Sensor Networks Using Watershe...M H
The availability and quality of information extracted from Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) revolutionised a wide range of application areas. The success of any WSN application is, nonetheless, determined by the ability to retrieve information with the required level of accuracy, within specified time constraints, and with minimum resource utilisation. This paper presents a new approach to localised information extraction that utilises the Watershed segmentation algorithm to dynamically group nodes into segments, which can be used as programming abstractions upon which different query operations can be performed. Watershed results in a set of well delimited areas, such that the number of necessary operations (communication and computation) to answer a query are minimised. This paper presents a fully asynchronous Watershed implementation, where nodes can compute their local data in parallel and independently from one another. The preliminary experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach is able to significantly reduce the query processing cost and time without involving any loss of efficiency.

Design and development of a linear variable differential optical sensor for s...eSAT Journals
Abstract In this present paper, we have illustrated the development of a novel linear displacement sensor utilizing the intensity of light. This sensor is based on temporal changes in the intensity of diffuse light beam for the movement of a solid metallic obstacle between the source and detector instead of traditional reflector. An obstacle is moved over open surface of a hollow shaped channel, where light beams impinged vertically into the channel. Two photo detectors has been used to sense the variation of diffuse light intensity at the covered & uncovered area of channel surface due to the movement of obstacle over its open surface. This movement of an obstacle represents the actual target displacement by differentiating the output transformation of two photo detectors; this phenomenon is reported as linear variable differential optical sensor (LVDOS). The measured displacement recorded interns of voltage by the signal processing circuit (SPC). Experimental results are shown a satisfactory performance of the sensor for small range displacement measurement. WSNs encompass a multitude of spatially distributed sensor nodes or devices employing radio signals for communication. Positioned strategically in a geographical area, these sensor nodes operate independently to collect information from their surroundings. Given their often remote and inaccessible locations, human interaction with deployed sensor nodes is limited. The core function of sensor nodes in WSNs involves sensing environmental data and transmitting it to a centralized base station or sink node. Abstract
The basic geometry of a waveguide reflects its functions. These consist of wave simulation for information carriers, guiding and networking in the telecommunication industry, applying the laser guided modes in various research areas such as particle dispersion and randomization effect theories. The basic uitlity of a waveguiding system is determined by the optical efficiency of that system, which is the percentage ratio of effective transmission carried out by that particular waveguide. Advanced guiding networks consist of complex tubes with different alterations in their sizes in order to fulfill this requirement. As the industry grows, so does the demand for wave simulation techniques and thus, day by day new methods are being developed which focus on the development of effective wave propogation. Another important factor which is included in the designing of wave guiding devices is the frequency of the optical signal. A signal with significantly higher frequency bands will be guided through a complex system which in turn does not guide waves of lower frequency. Conventional designs have been consisting of the long hollow metallic tubes which guide the electromagnetic signals towards the receiving ends. However, slight deviation is being observed in the newly enhanced devicing.

Uncertainty model for rate of change of frequency analysis with high renewab...IJECEIAES
Large-scale integration of inverter-based renewables is displacing synchronous machine generation, causing a reduction in the inertia of electrical power systems. This reduction is reflected in an increase in the rate of change of frequency (RoCoF). Additionally, the variation of the RoCoF will depend on the uncertainty associated with the generation of non-conventional renewable energy sources. For the planning of the operation of the system, it is essential to know the range of variation of the RoCoF when there are disturbances in the system and uncertainties in the generation of non-conventional sources of renewable energy. This paper proposes to establish the calculation of a confidence interval of the RoCoF variation that considers these uncertainties. So, this paper proposes a method to consider these uncertainties based on the probabilistic point estimate method (PEM); considering multiple renewable non-conventional sources with correlated or uncorrelated behavior in their powers injected into the system. On the other hand, as there are different proposals to calculate the RoCoF, this paper presents the application of the uncertainty model with three different RoCoF proposed calculation methods.

Abstract
The basic geometry of a waveguide reflects its functions. These consist of wave simulation for information carriers, guiding and networking in the telecommunication industry, applying the laser guided modes in various research areas such as particle dispersion and randomization effect theories. The basic uitlity of a waveguiding system is determined by the optical efficiency of that system, which is the percentage ratio of effective transmission carried out by that particular waveguide. Advanced guiding networks consist of complex tubes with different alterations in their sizes in order to fulfill this requirement. As the industry grows, so does the demand for wave simulation techniques and thus, day by day new methods are being developed which focus on the development of effective wave propogation. Another important factor which is included in the designing of wave guiding devices is the frequency of the optical signal. A signal with significantly higher frequency bands will be guided through a complex system which in turn does not guide waves of lower frequency. Conventional designs have been consisting of the long hollow metallic tubes which guide the electromagnetic signals towards the receiving ends. However, slight deviation is being observed in the newly enhanced devicing.

Uncertainty model for rate of change of frequency analysis with high renewab...IJECEIAES
Large-scale integration of inverter-based renewables is displacing synchronous machine generation, causing a reduction in the inertia of electrical power systems. This reduction is reflected in an increase in the rate of change of frequency (RoCoF). Additionally, the variation of the RoCoF will depend on the uncertainty associated with the generation of non-conventional renewable energy sources. For the planning of the operation of the system, it is essential to know the range of variation of the RoCoF when there are disturbances in the system and uncertainties in the generation of non-conventional sources of renewable energy. This paper proposes to establish the calculation of a confidence interval of the RoCoF variation that considers these uncertainties. So, this paper proposes a method to consider these uncertainties based on the probabilistic point estimate method (PEM); considering multiple renewable non-conventional sources with correlated or uncorrelated behavior in their powers injected into the system. On the other hand, as there are different proposals to calculate the RoCoF, this paper presents the application of the uncertainty model with three different RoCoF proposed calculation methods.

Background and Objective Telehealth has become a well known tool for the delivery of health care in Saudi Arabia, and the perspective and knowledge of healthcare providers are influential in the implementation, adoption and advancement of the method. This systematic review was conducted to examine the current literature base regarding telehealth and the related healthcare professional perspective and knowledge in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Materials and Methods This systematic review was conducted by searching 7 databases including, MEDLINE, CINHAL, Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, PsycINFO, and ProQuest Central. Studies on healthcare practitioners telehealth knowledge and perspectives published in English in Saudi Arabia from 2000 to 2023 were included. Boland directed this comprehensive review. The researchers examined each connected study using the AXIS tool, which evaluates cross sectional systematic reviews. Narrative synthesis was used to summarise and convey the data. Results Out of 1840 search results, 10 studies were included. Positive outlook and limited knowledge among providers were seen across trials. Healthcare professionals like telehealth for its ability to improve quality, access, and delivery, save time and money, and be successful. Age, gender, occupation, and work experience also affect health workers knowledge. In Saudi Arabia, healthcare professionals face inadequate expert assistance, patient privacy, internet connection concerns, lack of training courses, lack of telehealth understanding, and high costs while performing telemedicine. Conclusions Healthcare practitioners telehealth perceptions and knowledge were examined in this systematic study. Its collection of concerned experts different personal attitudes and expertise would help enhance telehealths implementation in Saudi Arabia, develop its healthcare delivery alternative, and eliminate frequent problems. This research investigates the nexus between online discussions on Dr. B.R. Ambedkars ideals and their impact on social inclusion among college students in Gurugram, Haryana. Surveying 240 students from 12 government colleges, findings indicate that 65 actively engage in online discussions, with 80 demonstrating moderate to high awareness of Ambedkars ideals. Statistically significant correlations reveal that higher online engagement correlates with increased awareness p 0.05 and perceived social inclusion. Variations across colleges and a notable effect of college type on perceived social inclusion highlight the influence of contextual factors. Furthermore, the intersectional analysis underscores nuanced differences based on gender, caste, and socio economic status. The Role of Mentoring and Its Influence on the Effectiveness of the Teaching ...ijtsrd
This paper reports on a study which was conducted to investigate the role of mentoring and its influence on the effectiveness of the teaching of Physics in secondary schools in the South West Region of Cameroon. The study adopted the convergent parallel mixed methods design, focusing on respondents in secondary schools in the South West Region of Cameroon. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected, analysed separately, and the results were compared to see if the findings confirm or disconfirm each other. The quantitative analysis found that majority of the respondents 72 of Physics teachers affirmed that they had more experienced colleagues as mentors to help build their confidence, improve their teaching, and help them improve their effectiveness and efficiency in guiding learners’ achievements. Only 28 of the respondents disagreed with these statements. With majority respondents 72 agreeing with the statements, it implies that in most secondary schools, experienced Physics teachers act as mentors to build teachers’ confidence in teaching and improving students’ learning. The interview qualitative data analysis summarized how secondary school Principals use meetings with mentors and mentees to promote mentorship in the school milieu. This has helped strengthen teachers’ classroom practices in secondary schools in the South West Region of Cameroon. With the results confirming each other, the study recommends that mentoring should focus on helping teachers employ social interactions and instructional practices feedback and clarity in teaching that have direct measurable impact on students’ learning achievements. Design Simulation and Hardware Construction of an Arduino Microcontroller Bas...ijtsrd
This study primarily focuses on the design of a high side buck converter using an Arduino microcontroller. The converter is specifically intended for use in DC DC applications, particularly in standalone solar PV systems where the PV output voltage exceeds the load or battery voltage. To evaluate the performance of the converter, simulation experiments are conducted using Proteus Software. These simulations provide insights into the input and output voltages, currents, powers, and efficiency under different state of charge SoC conditions of a 12V,70Ah rechargeable lead acid battery. Additionally, the hardware design of the converter is implemented, and practical data is collected through operation, monitoring, and recording. By comparing the simulation results with the practical results, the efficiency and performance of the designed converter are assessed. The findings indicate that while the buck converter is suitable for practical use in standalone PV systems, its efficiency is compromised due to a lower output current. Energy becomes sustainable if it meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Some of the definitions of sustainable energy include the considerations of environmental aspects such as greenhouse gas emissions, social, and economic aspects such as energy poverty. Generally far more sustainable than fossil fuel are renewable energy sources such as wind, hydroelectric power, solar, and geothermal energy sources. Worthy of note is that some renewable energy projects, like the clearing of forests to produce biofuels, can cause severe environmental damage. The sustainability of nuclear power which is a low carbon source is highly debated because of concerns about radioactive waste, nuclear proliferation, and accidents. The switching from coal to natural gas has environmental benefits, including a lower climate impact, but could lead to delay in switching to more sustainable options. “Carbon capture and storage” can be built into power plants to remove the carbon dioxide CO2 emissions, but this technology is expensive and has rarely been implemented. The paper presents conceptual guidelines to be used for the Survey Act implementation and to regulate the survey work practice, standardizing the field surveys, processing, quality control, procedures, and the processes related to survey work carried out by the stakeholders and relevant authorities in Sudan. The conceptual guidelines are meant to improve the quality and harmonization of geospatial data and to aid decision making processes as well as geospatial information systems. The established comprehensive executive regulations will govern and regulate the implementation of the Sudan Survey Geomatics Act in all surveying and mapping practices undertaken by the Sudan Survey Authority SSA and state local survey departments for public or private sector organizations. The targeted standards and specifications include the reference frame, projection, coordinate systems, and the guidelines and specifications that must be followed in the field of survey work, processes, and mapping products. In the last few decades, there has been a growing awareness of the importance of geomatics activities and measurements on the Earths surface in space and time, together with observing and mapping the changes. In such cases, data must be captured promptly, standardized, and obtained with more accuracy and specified in much detail. The paper will also highlight the current situation in Sudan, the degree to which survey standards are used, the problems encountered, and the errors that arise from not using the standards and survey specifications. Towards the Implementation of the Sudan Interpolated Geoid Model Khartoum Sta...ijtsrd
The discussions between ellipsoid and geoid have invoked many researchers during the recent decades, especially during the GNSS technology era, which had witnessed a great deal of development but still geoid undulation requires more investigations. To figure out a solution for Sudans local geoid, this research has tried to intake the possibility of determining the geoid model by following two approaches, gravimetric and geometrical geoid model determination, by making use of GNSS leveling benchmarks at Khartoum state. The Benchmarks are well distributed in the study area, in which, the horizontal coordinates and the height above the ellipsoid have been observed by GNSS while orthometric heights were carried out using precise leveling. The Global Geopotential Model GGM represented in EGM2008 has been exploited to figure out the geoid undulation at the benchmarks in the study area. This is followed by a fitting process, that has been done to suit the geoid undulation data which has been computed using GNSS leveling data and geoid undulation inspired by the EGM2008. Two geoid surfaces were created after the fitting process to ensure that they are identical and both of them could be counted for getting the same geoid undulation with an acceptable accuracy. In this respect, statistical operation played an important role in ensuring the consistency and integrity of the model by applying cross validation techniques splitting the data into training and testing datasets for building the geoid model and testing its eligibility. The geometrical solution for geoid undulation computation has been utilized by applying straightforward equations that facilitate the calculation of the geoid undulation directly through applying statistical techniques for the GNSS leveling data of the study area to get the common equation parameters values that could be utilized to calculate geoid undulation of any position in the study area within the claimed accuracy. Both systems were checked and proved eligible to be used within the study area with acceptable accuracy which may contribute to solving the geoid undulation problem in the Khartoum area, and be further generalized to determine the geoid model over the entire country, and this could be considered in the future, for regional and continental geoid model. The COVID 19 pandemic has highlighted the crucial need of preventive measures, with widespread use of face masks being a key method for slowing the viruss spread. This research investigates face mask identification using deep learning as a technological solution to be reducing the risk of coronavirus transmission. The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. In this digital era, day in and day out, photo sensors are
encountered. These work on the basic principle of
sensing the presence of light of required frequency or
wavelength and carrying out further process based on
the same. Like radiation heat transfer, these
applications also depend on the magnitude of incoming
radiation which is in turn dependent on the presence or
absence of the area of obscuration.
C. Arrangement and necessary conditions for
existence of area of obscuration
Consider two circles as shown in the figure. Let the
primary circle be placed with its centre at the origin
(0,0) with a radius 'r'. Let the secondary circle be placed
at any arbitrary point in the space (h,k) with a radius 's'.
In order to derive the equations in this case, let us
consider that the point (h,k) is in the first quadrant.
Equation of the Primary circle is as follows.

Let the point of intersection of the secondary circle and
the abscissa within the primary circle be at a distance
'b' from the origin.
In the fourth quadrant, let the shadow of the point of
intersection of the circles on the abscissa be 'c'.
Thus having defined the various points of interest, the
necessary and sufficient conditions to derive the
equation are formulated as follows.
Necessary condition refers to a mandatory requirement
without which, one cannot proceed further while
sufficient conditions refer to various conditions that can
facilitate the process of derivation.
Necessary condition for the existence of an area of
obscuration is that the distance between the centres of
the primary and the secondary circles shall be lesser
than the sum of their radii.

E. Verification of derived formula
Every general formula needs to be verified. This
validates the formula and makes it capable of taking
any values for the variables therein for a given family of
curves in event the values of constants are not known.
Thus for verification, if in Equation (18),

the primary circle. In that event, the area as evaluated
by the derived formula should be equal to that of the
complete primary circle.

that the formula can be used for determination of area

Conclusion
Thus it can be concluded that by the method of integration
the area of obscuration has been found out for a
combination of two circles, one with centre at the origin
and the other with centre at an arbitrary point. The
necessary condition for existence has also been mentioned
in addition to the physical significance of area of
obscuration for a few applications. The formula has been
verified and validated using an arbitrary condition. Any
other case shall be undertaken for evaluation in a
similar manner as with the verification, the
methodology is validated as well.
