Script
• Using my developed synopsis I have created a script In order
to convert my idea into the “film Language” to visualize how
my movie is going to look like and play out. By doing this I will
get a rough idea of the location, accessibility of creating my
idea. I understand that the main purpose of a script is to
break down the acts so that actors and crew and directors are
ware of stage dire4ctions, settings, dialogues and emotions of
the characters. A good script can break a film therefore I spent
a lot of time developing it and rewriting parts of it. Scripts are
essentially necessary for the success of a film so I will make
and try an attempt and make a decent script.
Script Draft 1
Working Title: A Strange Rendezvous
Format: Video Duration:3-4Min Scene 1: Int. Day
A boy and a girl go to the same Basketball club, texting each other constantly, while being on fake account. After few flirting sessions, they set up a
blind date, however as they are not self-confident, they send a substitute instead. As the substitutes meet up they realize they know each other and
end up getting together, while the other two are …
Narrative action: Two teenagers, a boy and a girl, train basketball at the same club. As both of them feel that their potential basketball career is taking
away their private and social life.
Protagonist: Basketball to me means more than anything. It is my life, every day, every hour only Basketball, however my private and social life is not
going pretty well, I have good friends, but no girlfriend for years now, I’m barely online on social media due to no time next to school and sports. I
probably should do something.
Pause
Female Protagonist: Basketball takes too much of my time, I haven’t been out with friends for weeks now. I should organize a meeting with them.
Most importantly though, I should get a boyfriend. I’m way too busy with school and basketball, that I have no time at all for my friends and social
activities. I should make another Instagram account and try to get a boyfriend to make my life happier.
Protagonist: A fake account on some social Media might work. I will think about it and make a fake profile.
Action: They make fake Instagram accounts in order to start flirting online. After flirting for a few days, they organize a blind date for a Friday
afternoon by 8 and agree to meet.
Protagonist: Time to go online and search for friends
Female protagonist: My account is done, let’s get down to work and find friends.
Action: As both of the characters have made their fake accounts, they started following friends from their school and outside of school in order
to find themselves a partner.
However, they found each other online and started texting.
Protagonist: There is this girl, she is exactly my age and wants to text with me Female protagonist: A guy, he is same age as me and wants to
message with me, I’m on to it.
Scene 2: Int.Day
Protagonist:
Hi, how are you doing? Are you free anytime this week?
Female protagonist:
Hey, I’m good, what about you? Yea I am; on Friday. Why?
Protagonist:
I’m fine Thank you; I wanted to ask if u would like to meet with me?
Female protagonist:
Well, it’s the first time we are texting, we don’t know anything about each other but I guess, sure I’m down to it. When and where do you want to
meet?
Protagonist:
City center at the mall Female protagonist:
Ok, I will be there. See you Protagonist: Bye
Action: Both the boy and the girl are a bit frightened as they have very low self-confidence. And since they have only been doing basketball and
school for the past years, they have completely forgotten how to prepare for a date. As a result to solve this issue, they both start thinking if they
should go or send someone else instead of themselves. They start thinking, which could be their own ideal replacement for this date.
Narrative action: The girl and boy start preparing for the meeting.
Female protagonist: What should I wear? Which perfume should I use? Should I go with curly or still hair?
Protagonist: I don’t know if I can do this. I haven’t been on a date for years now. I have only been doing sports outside of school. Maybe I should call
my friend and ask him to go instead of me.
Female protagonist: I’m so frightened. I haven’t been on dates and meetings for weeks now, with a guy for years. I just can’t do this. Let me call my
best friend and ask if she is free, maybe she can replace me and go to the meetings.
Action: Both of them send their best friends for this meeting.
Narrative: Both characters send their best friends, due to them being frightened and awaiting information on how the meeting has passed.
Friend (guy): I’m real curious about this girl, he told me about. I wonder how she looks like.
Friend (girl): can’t wait to see him, I’m so interested in getting to know him and then telling her about him.
Action: As the two friends get there and see each other, they realize, that they are from the same school and that they actually know one another.
Friend (guy):
You? How is this possible?
Friend (girl):
What the heck are you doing here? I’m not supposed to be meeting with you.
Friend (guy): Probably a minor coincidence.
Friend (girl):
It might be. Friend (guy):
The only possible solution to this is, that both our friends were scared to come and meet, therefore they have sent us.
Friend (girl):
Indeed. So what should we do now?
Friend (guy):
Well I would say let’s have the meeting, let’s get to know each other.
Friend (girl):
Sure! I actually found you pretty handsome when I saw you in school.
Friend (guy):
Same here. I think that you are a very good looking, charming girl.
Action: The two students go and enjoy themselves as it is a proper date, and realize that they were actually meant to be for each other.
Scene 3: Ext, Day
Action: The 2 students get along very well, talking in a park for hours getting closer and closer every minute. While the two main sidekicks are sitting
at home thinking about what is happening to their friends.
Protagonist: (Anxious, angry voice) I wonder what’s happening with my friend, he is long gone now and still not a phone call about what
happened.
Female protagonist: (Curious and fumed voice) what is taking her so long? I can’t believe that she didn’t call me after meeting that guy. What on
earth could have happened?
Action: The sidekick friends being at home are starting to shiver from anxiety about where are their friends, what are they doing and how did things
go, however they can’t reach them and have to wait until the next time they see them…
Evaluation of script 1
On the contrary to my other film idea, I have gone with this next
impression of mine to create a short film. I believe that this storyline is
much more intimidating than the last one and will please my
audiences more then the earlier one. I have decided to go with this
one as the set location are easier to get to and film, the filming is also
easier and quicker then if I would have done the escape room short
film and the characters are more glad to perform in a romantic/
suspense genre short film then in an action.
Overall, my first script wasn’t that good, I used technical language to
describe the actions and references to the sounds. I have by now
learnt how to improve these mistakes and correct them in my next
attempt at script writing. My main aim is to develop this script and
reaffirm the content and structure of my script.

crowd voice overs bring them back to reality. As the noise dominates some voices/conversation attracts their attention.
Crowd
Are you going to that party tonight?

Storyboard
• Film is a visual media which ironically begins with written
words. Storyboard have no limitations as a they are direct and
act like a visual manual on how to shoot a movie. It is easier
this way to follow than a script.
• I have transferred my idea into a storyboard so I could break
down each scene into shots, this of course will allow me to
achieve a visually impactful display of how my film intended
to plan out. By drawing how I would like to shoot my film as a
director, I will be able to save time when filming as most of
the things like camera movement, camera angles and actors
have been illustrated.
Evaluation of Storyboard
• I have scanned my storyboard and saved them as Jpegs as to
electronically incorporate them into this PowerPoint. However
through this process they have turned a bit unclear and visual,
yet in person they are much more visible. I have found it
difficult to draw such drawings or sketches as I'm not a good
drawer especially for such an extended script. I have showed
my script to a few people and the response I got was far
better than expected. However back to my storyboard a lot of
development is needed in order to please my audiences and
to work on making an achievable concept.
Review
• After presenting my script and story to audiences I have
received mixed responses. After reviewing my script and
storyboard I have come to understanding that my film might
be a bit complicated but is in the conveyed time period. It has
a few scenes, with a few location changes and actors that will
be difficult to coordinate. I will reassess my idea and develop
it further to make it more simple and successful.
Inspiration
For my short, I have been inspired by Il Grido ("The Cry") . It is a 1957 Italian black-
and-white drama film directed by Michelangelo Antonioni and starring Steve Cochran,
Alida Valli, Betsy Blair, and Dorian Gray. Based on a story by Antonioni, the film is
about a man who wanders aimlessly, away from his town, away from the woman he
loved, and becomes emotionally and socially inactive.
My film of course is based on social activity and belonging. A not socially active boy
and a girl go to the same Basketball club. Being fed up with pressure both of them set
up fake dating profiles. As they start to chat online both are not aware that they are
bumping into each other in real life.
The Film The Cry inspired me well enough to create something similar in order to
capture my target audience and hence make my short film more applicable.

Scene 6: Int. Boys/Girls bedroom, Night
Same as in scene 2 & 4, both characters at the same time throw their gym bags on the floor. As they crash on their beds both of them grab their
phones again and continue online chat. As the time passes by both of them tiredly continue with the chat.
Scene 7: Int. Boys/Girls Changing Room, Day
Same as in scene 3 & 5, both characters are in the same place and position. As they are constantly exchanging messages their coach is obviously
even more upset remarks brings them back to reality.
Coach 1 (voiceover)
I do not want to see your face here. Get lost and get some sleep.
Coach 2 (voiceover)
You are more on that phone then you are on the court.
Being disturbed, both of them grab their gym bags and while still looking at their phones walk towards the door. As they exit, they bump into each
other again and this time they drop their phones on the floor. As they reach down to pick up their phones they realize that they are texting to each
other. Lifting their gaze they look into each other’s eyes and with warm smiles on their faces. Both of them take their phones and turn them towards
each other and say
Boy
What an unexpected surprise!
Girl
And really pleasant one too!
Evaluation
• After careful consideration and reviewing script development I have realized that
due to various characters and filming locations I need to revise original idea and
simplify it. The simplification of the script its done in such a way so that original
idea and my intentions are not compromised. The Final script itself incorporates
original storyline plot but number of location as well as characters ware reduced in
order to allow production to go along. The production of the film will satisfy
coursework criteria and at the same time allow me creative freedom to fulfill my
original intentions and at the same time would allow me to film under budget and
production time table.
The next task will be to complete pre-production stage including:
• Final storyboard
• Character profile
• Costume
• Cast
• Location search
• Equipment list

Photo storyboard Evaluation
Due to lack of female, we have come up with altered ideas to
complete the visual storyboard in order to progress to main
stage of preproduction. The photo story board has been done so
that I get clear idea of hove I am going to film the final story. The
substitute male character was used instead of female but
nevertheless I got the idea of specific shots and camera
movements I intend to use during actual filming.
Evaluation
Overall I feel I have developed my ideas to a satisfactory
standard and have created and excellent starting point for my A
level media film. Through the process of creating my script and
storyboard my ideas have developed the most and to a level I'm
more than happy about. As I have combined my technical and
visual elements in the film production to create a film to comply
with film making codes And conventions. This has made me have
a diverse idea and structure for my film.
From this point on, I will be making sure to focus on my film with
every attention of mine to finish my A level Media task as to
hopefully and successfully create and organized production.

Evaluation of Storyboard •I have scanned my storyboard and saved them as Jpegs as to electronically incorporate them into this PowerPoint. However through this process they have turned a bit unclear and visual, yet in person they are much more visible. I have found it difficult to draw such drawings or sketches as I'm not a good drawer especially for such an extended script. I have showed my script to a few people and the response I got was far better than expected. However back to my storyboard a lot of development is needed in order to please my audiences and to work on making an achievable concept.

Review • After presentingmy script and story to audiences I have received mixed responses. After reviewing my script and storyboard I have come to understanding that my film might be a bit complicated but is in the conveyed time period. It has a few scenes, with a few location changes and actors that will be difficult to coordinate. I will reassess my idea and develop it further to make it more simple and successful.

Inspiration For my short,I have been inspired by Il Grido ("The Cry") . It is a 1957 Italian black- and-white drama film directed by Michelangelo Antonioni and starring Steve Cochran, Alida Valli, Betsy Blair, and Dorian Gray. Based on a story by Antonioni, the film is about a man who wanders aimlessly, away from his town, away from the woman he loved, and becomes emotionally and socially inactive. My film of course is based on social activity and belonging. A not socially active boy and a girl go to the same Basketball club. Being fed up with pressure both of them set up fake dating profiles. As they start to chat online both are not aware that they are bumping into each other in real life. The Film The Cry inspired me well enough to create something similar in order to capture my target audience and hence make my short film more applicable.

Evaluation • After carefulconsideration and reviewing script development I have realized that due to various characters and filming locations I need to revise original idea and simplify it. The simplification of the script its done in such a way so that original idea and my intentions are not compromised. The Final script itself incorporates original storyline plot but number of location as well as characters ware reduced in order to allow production to go along. The production of the film will satisfy coursework criteria and at the same time allow me creative freedom to fulfill my original intentions and at the same time would allow me to film under budget and production time table. The next task will be to complete pre-production stage including: • Final storyboard • Character profile • Costume • Cast • Location search • Equipment list

Photo storyboard Evaluation Dueto lack of female, we have come up with altered ideas to complete the visual storyboard in order to progress to main stage of preproduction. The photo story board has been done so that I get clear idea of hove I am going to film the final story. The substitute male character was used instead of female but nevertheless I got the idea of specific shots and camera movements I intend to use during actual filming.

Evaluation Overall I feelI have developed my ideas to a satisfactory standard and have created and excellent starting point for my A level media film. Through the process of creating my script and storyboard my ideas have developed the most and to a level I'm more than happy about. As I have combined my technical and visual elements in the film production to create a film to comply with film making codes And conventions. This has made me have a diverse idea and structure for my film. From this point on, I will be making sure to focus on my film with every attention of mine to finish my A level Media task as to hopefully and successfully create and organized production.
