Week 9
Answer each question for the 1,2 and 3 topics.
Topic 1
Are good workplace manners important to day? After all; if the bottom line is the goal, who cares how we get there. Are we letting rudeness, disrespect, and overall uncivil behavior become an acceptable attitude in the workplace? Think about situations you have been in whether it involve coworkers, customer service or general observations. Have you observed bad behavior?
Topic 2
The idea of a "job" has changed dramatically over the years. Some people still look at it as a lifetime career; others look at it as a stepping stone.
What does/will having a job mean to you? Money, power, prestige, comfort, pension, respect, a way to pay the rent? What do/will you expect from your employer and what are you going to give your employer in exchange for your paycheck?
Topic 3
Body art is a form of nonverbal communication and nearly 30% of American adults have one or more tattoos. What advice would you give a career-conscious, ambitious friend if they were to ask you whether you think they should display it at work?
Here are the answers from classmates for the topic please reply for each number a reply on the answer.
Topic 1
1.Good workplace manners are especially important at this day and time, as generations appear to be coming off as more and more disrespectful. While their may be a bottom line with established goals, it is still important to progress towards them with respect and strong work ethic!! This topic works me up and I can not stress enough just how important it is to have an appropriate and professional set of workplace manners. I have witnessed too much bad behavior through out my careers so far and it is all so unsettling. Personally, I do not tolerate rudeness, disrespect, and overall uncivil behavior in the workplace, it is completely unacceptable. Termination should always take place when situations like the ones being mentioned here, arise.
2.I believe good workplace manners are very important to establishing a collaborative work environment. While the prompt is correct that the end goal is what is most important, the truth is that when coworkers get along it is conducive to more productivity. When work hours are spent resolving conflicts, stewing over disputes, or simply distracted over poor manners, less work gets done. Additionally, when co-workers can communicate freely they are more likely to put their heads together and come up with creative solutions to problems and innovative ideas that can save the company money, which may not have been possible with only one person thinking in isolation. All that being said, it should be recognized that people from different backgrounds have different ideas of what is considered good manners. There are many instances where what an employee perceives as rude behavior is really just a cultural difference. I have not myself observed much bad behavior in the work place, I have been lucky to work in places where employee ...
" Women being women, we tend to take work seriously, and if not balanced, will continue to work and neglect everything else, especially our families. A few instances that I've learn over the years, is to make certain efforts and use the great family support network, if we have it." Maznida Mokhtar

1. Are you a working mum who leaves the house every day or a mother who
wants to help, provide for the family needs, and look for a job? Women
tend to be independent, and want to earn their own money besides
spouse income. I am a mother and a wife I currently work in a corporate
institution. As a mother, I struggle a lot I need to work 8 hours a day and
leave my child. I started to work when he was ten mos. old and now
turning 2, I want to spend quality time as much as I want to, but I need to
work and help my husband, whenever I get home I can no longer spend
more time playing with him because everyone needs to rest from long day
work, the saddest part of being a mum is to be away from her child.During
Enhance Community Quarantine, I had a chance to stay and spend quality
time with my son, we played and learned together, and that was a very
fulfilling moment for me. But not that too long, when ECQ has lifted
establishments, and companies were gradually working, and I need to go
back to our regular shift 8 hours a day from Monday to Saturday. I find it
very difficult because of the virus spreading I have put myself and family
at risk since my job is collecting payments I was exposed to different
people every day, and coping with the new normal situation. Still, I
thanked God for I have a job and earn money, preserving and keeping us
safe despite the situation.
Shifting to Freelancing and Home Based Job
2. I purchased a laptop with the required specs, or you can borrow from your family
or friends if you do not have one, or the means to buy, we can strategize.
I only have little knowledge about virtual assistants I spend my leisure time
watching free online courses on Youtube and facebook learning the basic ideas.
I decided to enroll in the Filipino Virtual Assistance class to optimize and learn in-
depth knowledge of what freelancing is.
I do not need to leave the house and can work in the comfort of our home with
having flexible time. I can check my child at any time of the day. My skin
developed allergies because of wearing a face mask and alcohol.
I need to spend money on treatment. Working at home is a good idea since I do
not need to wear any of those protective gear, no need to interact, and be
exposed to different people every day.
I do not need to ride and commute to public utility vehicles when going to work
and home.
No age discrimination as long as you are fit and qualified for the job, most of the
corporate age qualification nowadays ranges from 25 to 35 years of age, and
that is sad for us most especially mothers who are passing the age limit yet able
to work.
I was in deep thought of the circumstances and came up with the idea and hope that
there is better ahead of me when you pray and take action. There is an impression to
me that I can stay at home, take care of my child, and earn a living. God gave me the
idea of a home based and a freelancing job. I seriously pursued and planned the
things that I might need for this job.
Two things that I acquired to start with my freelancing journey
The ideas of Home-based jobs that fit and work for me that I considered were:
I am now taking the lessons and planning to venture into a home based job carrier
after the course. I am happy and thankful because I learned a lot and gained the
confidence and knowledge of a virtual assistant. I am excited to take these learning
to the next level looking forward to my clients and most likely to work at home and
spend quality time with my family while earning. Home based work is a new idea to
those who work traditionally and corporate set- up, you might think that home-based
is another skill and time to spend and learn to. I believe learning is a never-ending
human brain created to acquire and learn new things. It’s never too late for us mum
to learn and get new skills with the right mindset, attitude, and right people that will
teach and equip us, we will succeed.
