Session Objectives
• Apply in-depth understanding about
how to write the context and rationale
and action research question.
• Write a draft of context and rationale
for action research and possible
action research question/s.
“Context and Rationale”
• Context
– The place where the research happens, like a
school, hospital, community group, or business. It
also includes the specific problems or
opportunities in that place. Understanding the
context is important because action research
focuses on solving real-world issues in that
particular setting.
“Context and Rationale”
• Rationale
– The reason for choosing action research. It
explains why this method is used instead of
others, emphasizing its focus on teamwork,
solving real problems, and the process of
planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. It's
often chosen because it involves the people
affected by the research, aiming to create lasting
and meaningful change.
“Context and Rationale”
• Context provides the backdrop of
the research, while the rationale
explains the purpose and value of
using action research within that
specific context.
