Business Strategy Formulation – Safe Water for Africa
Initiated Safe Water for Africa Partnership to provide access to potable
water to 2 Million people in West Africa
Initiated expansion into new geographies through a PPP (public private
partnership) approach thereby furthering the sustainability goals.
Soliciting funds for these projects through strategic tie-ups with
corporate.
Obtained an order worth Euro 20 million in Ghana for providing safe
water. The project, created the scale required to take the country’s
profitability to the next level.

Social Change Initiative: Positive Impact
• The Change Agent : Successfully Implemented “Lead by
Front” Strategy to overcome various challenges in Africa.
• Initiated well conceived social marketing programmes to change
community behaviour towards safe water. These programmes are
customized to spread awareness about the health benefits of safe
water, even in communities where little or no health care knowledge
exists. This has helped me to solve social and environmental problems.
• Implemented the overall community & social marketing strategy
(including design of a behaviour change strategy for water , sanitation
& hygiene) WASH.
• Trained and developed social marketing teams to execute community
outreach programs & bcc campaigns.

“Even though we are providing safe drinking water, people were not ready to
switch their present water source. Initiated water awareness camp at schools and
shown the bacteria and other pathogens present in the water and how Ultra we
were able to remove these contaminants. Educated students on how these
pathogens can affect them and cause sickness. They had decided to educate their
parents about perils of contaminated water”.

Studies established that there is a significant
reduction in health expenditures of consumer
households.
Significant reduction in waterborne diseases
among people consuming safe water which has
led to improved productivity.
Over 75% reduction in the total monthly health
expenditures.
About 60% reduction in the total school days lost
in the community.
Approximately 70% reduction in the total work
days lost.

  • 23. WASH Awareness Camp at Schools “Even though we are providing safe drinking water, people were not ready to switch their present water source. Initiated water awareness camp at schools and shown the bacteria and other pathogens present in the water and how Ultra we were able to remove these contaminants. Educated students on how these pathogens can affect them and cause sickness. They had decided to educate their parents about perils of contaminated water”.

  • 25. Summary: Studies established that there is a significant reduction in health expenditures of consumer households. Significant reduction in waterborne diseases among people consuming safe water which has led to improved productivity. Over 75% reduction in the total monthly health expenditures. About 60% reduction in the total school days lost in the community. Approximately 70% reduction in the total work days lost.
