The sermon outline summarizes the creation account in Genesis 1. It discusses how God created light, separated the land and sea, and created plants and animals. It notes that man was created in God's image and was given dominion over creation. The sermon emphasizes that God said creation was good and stresses having an open relationship with God, trusting that he can help with life's struggles since he created everything. The conclusion calls the congregation to openly speak with God at the altar.

The Return of Christ have been a Greatest Christian expectation for over 2000 years.
Jesus had great difficulty convincing the prepared Jews including John the Baptist, that he was their expected Messiah! The Messianic dilemma – he looks too controversial ”A trouble maker?”
Sun Myung Moon had similar difficulty starting his first Messianic course in 1945-1952! Christians doubted him and chased him away as heretic!

John Oakes taught a two-part Introduction to the Old Testament for a group of new Christians in San Diego May 17 and 24, 2015. The first class serves as a general introduction as well as covering the Book of Genesis. Genesis is studied as a work of Christian theology-setting out the Christian world view and as a source of prophecy, prefigure and foreshadow of the Messiah. The second class finishes an intro to Genesis and covers Exodus to Deuteronomy, emphasizing prefigures and foreshadows in the story of Israel and in the laws, sacrifices, tabernacle and festivals.

Commentary.
Author: Moses.
Date: 1,000 years ago.
Theme: To lay the foundation for the theocracy(rule) of God over His creation.
Key Verse: Genesis 1:1
Key Controversy: In The Beginning . . . God and The Christian Worldview! (Bold
added for emphasis and * parts are very important!!!)
Per Dr. Fred Smith, Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and Graduate Studies:
A Global Worldview is how an individual sees the world through their own eyes.
Apologetics – Greek ἀπολογία, "speaking in defense") is the discipline of defending a
position (often religious) through the systematic use of information. Early Christian
writers (c. 120–220) who defended their faith against critics and recommended their
faith to outsiders were called apologists.
Things to remember!
1. Everyone has a worldview.
2. Live your life in the realm of who Jesus Christ Is.
3. Let your actions and moral attitudes be shaped by the Bible.
4. Dedicate your life to see how the Bible sees them.
The Three Broad Worldviews (Created by Paul Turner)
1. Oceanic Worldview- all is one. Manifestations of one reality of what specific part
is from it. It is all the same. An example of this is Hinduism and Naturalism.
2. Atomic Worldview- an atom is an atom until itself. It is in a separate world unto
its own. This worldview of Western Europe and the United States of America. It
1
2. emphasis focuses on the individual. It also focuses on the assumption of being the
master of your own faith or captain of your own ship. Naturalism takes part in
this belief as well.
3. Interconnected Worldview- believes that every part of the web is connected to
individual parts, but everyone is affected. This is the Biblical worldview. Think
of a spider web and everyone is connected. If one part breaks it affects the whole
web. Jesus and Paul thought this way and it affected how they communicated
the gospel to the world. Let it affect you in the same way!
Different Worldviews: People in churches think atomically not interconnected.
Rural America is more interconnected than urban. People in rural areas have a
better understanding of being connected. Atomic worldview is growing. Do not
except! Examples: Gay Rights and Abortion Right debates.
Four Basic Worldview Questions:
1. Who are we?
- What does it mean to be human being?
- What sort of beings are we?
- Are we physical beings?
- Are we spiritual beings?
- Are we both?
2. Where are we?
- What is the nature of the reality we live in?
- What sort of world is it?
- Is it God’s creation?
- Is it a product of blind chance occurring over time?
3. What is the problem?
- How do we account for evil?
- Is evil personal or social?
- Is it external to me or is it nothing?
4. What is the answer?
- How do we find happiness?
- How do we find wholeness?
- What goals are really worthy of pursuing?
- What is life for?
Class Exercise: We will be using these during our class time to describe every group
that is examined. Here are four examples from popular culture.
1. NCIS Special Agent Leroy “Jethro” Gibbs
2. Reality Star Kim Kardashian
3. Local Unnamed Pastor
4. President of the United States of America Barack Obama

3. Note: Try to be fair in your assessment, but be honest in your opinion.
Introduction
I. “In the beginning . . .”!!!– Genesis 1:1-5 (Key verses: Genesis 1:1,)
A. In the beginning--a period of remote and unknown antiquity, hid in the depths of
eternal ages; and so the phrase is used in Proverbs 8:22, 23.
God-- the name of the Supreme Being, signifying in Hebrew, "Strong," "Mighty." It
is expressive of omnipotent power; and by its use here in the plural form, is obscurely
taught at the opening of the Bible, a doctrine clearly revealed in other parts of it, namely,
that though God is one, there is a plurality of persons in the Godhead--Father, Son, and
Spirit, who were engaged in the creative work ( Proverbs 8:27 John 1:3, 10 Eph
3:9 Hebrews 1:2 Job 26:13 ).
created--not formed from any pre-existing materials, but made out of nothing.
the heaven and the earth--the universe. This first verse is a general introduction to
the inspired volume, declaring the great and important truth that all things had a
beginning; that nothing throughout the wide extent of nature existed from eternity,
originated by chance, or from the skill of any inferior agent; but that the whole
universe was produced by the creative power of God ( Act 17:24 Rom 11:36). After
this preface, the narrative is confined to the earth.
2. the earth was without form and void--or in "confusion and emptiness," as the words are
rendered in Isa 34:11. This globe, at some undescribed period, having been convulsed and broken
up, was a dark and watery waste for ages perhaps, till out of this chaotic state, the present fabric
of the world was made to arise.
the Spirit of God moved--literally, continued brooding over it, as a fowl does, when
hatching eggs. The immediate agency of the Spirit, by working on the dead and discordant
elements, combined, arranged, and ripened them into a state adapted for being the scene of
a new creation. The account of this new creation properly begins at the end of this second verse;
and the details of the process are described in the natural way an onlooker would have done, who
beheld the changes that successively took place.
Gen 1:3-5. THE FIRST DAY.
3. God said--This phrase, which occurs so repeatedly in the account means: willed, decreed,
appointed; and the determining will of God was followed in every instance by an immediate
result. Whether the sun was created at the same time with, or long before, the earth, the dense
accumulation of fogs and vapors which enveloped the chaos had covered the globe with a settled
gloom. But by the command of God, light was rendered visible; the thick murky clouds were
dispersed, broken, or rarefied, and light diffused over the expanse of waters. The effect is
3
4. described in the name "day," which in Hebrew signifies "warmth," "heat"; while the name "night"
signifies a "rolling up," as night wraps all things in a shady mantle.
II. Man was given charge over what was good!!! – Genesis 1:6-31 (Key Verses: 1:9, 11,
14, 26, and 28.)
A. 9. let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place--The
world was to be rendered a terraqueous globe, and this was effected by a volcanic
convulsion on its surface, the upheaving of some parts, the sinking of others, and the
formation of vast hollows, into which the waters impetuously rushed, as is
graphically described ( Psa 104:6-9 ) [HITCHCOCK]. Thus a large part of the earth
was left "dry land," and thus were formed oceans, seas, lakes, and rivers which, though
each having its own bed, or channel, are all connected with the sea ( Job 38:10 Ecc 1:7 ).
11. let the earth bring forth--The bare soil was clothed with verdure, and it is
noticeable that the trees, plants, and grasses--the three great divisions of the vegetable
kingdom here mentioned--were not called into existence in the same way as the light
and the air; they were made to grow, and they grew as they do still out of the
ground--not, however, by the slow process of vegetation, but through the divine
power, without rain, dew, or any process of labor--sprouting up and flourishing in a
single day.
Gen 1:14-19. FOURTH DAY.
14. let there be lights in the firmament--The atmosphere being completely purified,
the sun, moon, and stars were for the first time unveiled in all their glory in the cloudless
sky; and they are described as "in the firmament" which to the eye they appear to be,
though we know they are really at vast distances from it.
26. The last stage in the progress of creation being now reached--God said, Let us make
man--words which show the peculiar importance of the work to be done, the
formation of a creature, who was to be God's representative, clothed with authority
and rule as visible head and monarch of the world.
In our image, after our likeness--This was a peculiar distinction, the value attached
to which appears in the words being twice mentioned. And in what did this image of
God consist? Not in the erect form or features of man, not in his intellect, for the
devil and his angels are, in this respect, far superior; not in his immortality, for he
has not, like God, a past as well as a future eternity of being; but in the moral
dispositions of his soul, commonly called original righteousness ( Ecc 7:29 ). As the

5. new creation is only a restoration of this image, the history of the one throws light
on the other; and we are informed that it is renewed after the image of God in
knowledge, righteousness, and true holiness ( Col 3:10Eph 4:24 ).
III. “It was VERY GOOD”!!! - Genesis 1:31 (Key Verses: 1:31).
Application/Conclusion:
I. Be Real With God!!!
II. God said it was so! So believe that He has with no doubts!!!
III. Remember if He can create everything including you then He has everything
well in hand when trials come your way!!!
IV. Lastly, God wants a personal relationship with you!!! He wants to hear from
you and be open about how you feel and the struggles you go through. God helps
those that cannot help themselves. Jesus died for ALL OF US on the cross since we
could not pay the sin debt. That MEANS ALL OF US need His help!!!
