• A lot is happening now….
• This is a unique time in history, for all of us
• Also a unique time to be a Scout
• Science, Health, Citizenship, STEM, Service---all
these things are important parts of Scouting
• We are also mentoring scouts to be flexible, to
deal with adversity, to be resilient
FIRST….

• WHY??!!
• Trying to move out of bankruptcy with a plan forward
• Money streams are hurting even more now.
National Registration Fee Increase

Camp Cards
Initial camp cards sales end on June 15th.
Another camp card sales begin in honor of frontline workers on June 16th:
• After you close your sale with payment, keep the remaining cards for future donation to
frontline heroes.
• Between June 16th and August 31st , Send friends, family & others to the
website www.NCACBSA.org/campcardorder and encourage them to select your district and unit.
• When it is safe to do so, we will ask your unit to deliver the camp cards you have sold as part of
this campaign to Frontline Heroes by going to a hospital, grocery store, fire station, etc.
• The commission of $2.50 per card sold through our website will be placed in your unit’s account
or a check will be mailed for earned commission in early September.
Recruiting
• National BSA:National Open House event on Zoom,
• Possibly other virtual JSN event materials for the fall.
• We have no idea if school will be open and if flyers can be distributed.

two messages on their listservs during this exceptional time.
• Membership Chair: Daniel DeLacy---building virtual presentations and
scripts for your use
• Geofencing: uses facebook to broadcast message wihtin a certain
geographical area. BSA web link:https://scoutingwire.org/how-to-use-

Scouts BSA website:
• 30+ camps for Scouts BSA (and more for Cub Scouts) are listed from
all over the United States
• A wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities, merit badges,
patches, prizes and bling for the scouts
• There are probably more you can find with some Google searching
(for example, Sinoquipe (Mason-Dixon council :
http://mdcscouting.org/sinoquipe-scout-reservation/, and Goshen
Scout camps are not listed)
High Adventure Updates
Health form Part C
• BSA Accredited Council Camps and High Adventure Bases have been supplied a
way to accept an extension of validity of the pre-participation exam (Part C) of
the AHMR.
• We expect camps and bases will publish their policies individually, so please
direct your specific situation to the camp you plan to attend this summer.
• This option may not be available for all councils as it may conflict with states’
camping statutes or requirements.
• This option does not apply to any unit activity or programmatic requirements
such as for SCUBA.
• Information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states
that older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical
conditions are at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. If you are in this
group, please ensure you have approval from your health care provider prior to
attending camp.
Northern Tier (5/25 update)
• Bisset and Atikokan bases (in Canada) closed for
summer, possible reschedule to Minnesota
• Ely (Minnesota) base on hold until word from
Minnesotas government—current plan is July 1 start
• A lot of modifications to the way things are done.

• The Reservation Contact and Lead Advisor for each crew were
emailed a survey to complete after consulting with their crew.
• Philmont will waive the adult to youth ratio (if YPT guidelines
are met) to accommodate Scouts who will “age out” by the time
they are rescheduled through 2022.
• Philmont Training Center, Family Adventure Camp Participants,
and NAYLE participants will receive a call next week (June 8-12)
to discuss rescheduling options or refunds.
• Individual Trek Participants were emailed a survey to complete.

will be accepted as a valid Part C until August 31, 2020.
•Update Parts A and B of the AHMR within two weeks of your departure to camp.

• Patrol activities outside, with distancing
• Group camping?....Makes me a little nervous..
• If you camp at the state park..state park rules, county
and state rules—check with chartering organization
• Scouts in tents together? One Scout per tent? Parent
plus Scout
• Many campsites are not open to non-family units
• Using commonly used areas

NCAC Scouter’s digest and updates online: weownadventure.com
One idea…Scouts could create videos about
• Leadership positions
• Nature/outdoors
• Welcome videos for new scouts
• Troop procedures (quartermaster videos, etc., what do when you get to a campsite)
• Requirements: what a knot is used for and how to tie it
• Do pioneering projects over the summer (maybe even film it)
