This document provides details on the "LEGAL, PROFESSIONAL & BUSINESS ASPECTS OF OPTOMETRY" course taught in the 4th year of optometry studies. The course is a core 2-credit course taught in semester 2. It aims to acquaint students with their ethical, professional and legal responsibilities as optometrists and impart basic business skills. The course covers topics such as the role of optometry, laws governing optometric practice, starting an optometric practice, and issues in continuing optometric education. It is taught through 28 hours of lectures over topics like optometric law and the profession. Student performance is evaluated through mid-term and final exams.
