Understanding Trend and Variation of Electrical Energy usage Among Students i...
The National University of Malaysia UKM is one of the prestige public university in Malaysia. Therefore, the University's management is always proactive in planning the best student facilities every year. The growth in electricity consumption and demand, however, has increased. Hence, this study aims to look at the comparison trend of electricity consumption of several colleges at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and the daily consumption rate of electricity used. Generally, this study is based on a quantitative scientific exploration study where energy consumption information is measured based on actual records between August and October 2017. In addition, observation on energy consumption of the student is also conducted. The findings show that the range of utility cost ratio with the total of students is between 49.5 kWh student and 80.8 kWh student and the average energy consumption is around 65.2 kWh student. The findings reveal that there is an imbalanced in the trend of energy consumption among the college dwellers. Responses from the Khazanah and college management revealed the necessity to study in depth in particularly the operation and management factors that may have an impact on these significant differences. Generally, the findings of random observations in UKMs campus residential colleges have found that a small percentage of students do not concerned on energy savings. Electricity awareness and savings campaigns should be one of the students activities in the colleges. In addition, the Universitys managers also need to think of a comprehensive action plan that is in line with the needs of sustainable or green campus in the future. Renewable Energy: An Assessment of Public Awareness in Jhansi
ABSTRACT India is one of the countries with the largest production of energy from renewable sources (solar light, bio gas, hydro, bio diesel, wind etc). Jhansi city has a very good scope to generate renewable energy due to their geographical situation and environmental factors. Diffusion methods are a key factor in promoting renewable energy production. Present time Indian government uses different types of effective extension education and diffusion method a deep gap which needs to be addressed in the area of energy education and awareness in India. This study aims to address the awareness of renewable energy and running Indian government different subsidy scheme like Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM), Government Yojana: Solar Energy Subsidy Scheme, UDAY Scheme, SECI scheme, ROOFTOP scheme. Methodology used sample size was 250 respondents from Jhansi three different local area were chosen Shiva Ji Nagar, Veerangana, Kochha Bhanwar its duration from November 2018 to February 2019. Questionnaire based on self-structured questionnaires including demographic data that includes gender, age, income, education, area of residence, life quality, and interest of implementation. The statistical analysis used percentage and ratio, stated that middle class and rural respondents were more (76%)interested to use renewable energy, government launched different schemes but 96 % respondent had no knowledge. The government needs to improve its diffusion method that changes Indian people’s view of renewable energy not only economically but eco-friendly and helpful in various type of health issues. Renewable Energy: An Assessment of Public Awareness in Jhansi
ABSTRACT India is one of the countries with the largest production of energy from renewable sources (solar light, bio gas, hydro, bio diesel, wind etc). Jhansi city has a very good scope to generate renewable energy due to their geographical situation and environmental factors. Diffusion methods are a key factor in promoting renewable energy production. Present time Indian government uses different types of effective extension education and diffusion method a deep gap which needs to be addressed in the area of energy education and awareness in India. This study aims to address the awareness of renewable energy and running Indian government different subsidy scheme like Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM), Government Yojana: Solar Energy Subsidy Scheme, UDAY Scheme, SECI scheme, ROOFTOP scheme. Methodology used sample size was 250 respondents from Jhansi three different local area were chosen Shiva Ji Nagar, Veerangana, Kochha Bhanwar its duration from November 2018 to February 2019. Questionnaire based on self-structured questionnaires including demographic data that includes gender, age, income, education, area of residence, life quality, and interest of implementation. The statistical analysis used percentage and ratio, stated that middle class and rural respondents were more (76%)interested to use renewable energy, government launched different schemes but 96 % respondent had no knowledge. The government needs to improve its diffusion method that changes Indian people’s view of renewable energy not only economically but eco-friendly and helpful in various type of health issues. Labour market tightness coincided with growth in real wages for only a portion of workers: those in low-wage jobs requiring little education. Several factors—including labour market composition, worker and employer behaviour, and labour market practices—have contributed to the absence of worker benefits. "Does Foreign Direct Investment Negatively Affect Preservation of Culture in the Global South? Case Studies in Thailand and Cambodia."
Do elements of globalization, such as Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), negatively affect the ability of countries in the Global South to preserve their culture? This research aims to answer this question by employing a cross-sectional comparative case study analysis utilizing methods of difference. Thailand and Cambodia are compared as they are in the same region and have a similar culture. The metric of difference between Thailand and Cambodia is their ability to preserve their culture. This ability is operationalized by their respective attitudes towards FDI; Thailand imposes stringent regulations and limitations on FDI while Cambodia does not hesitate to accept most FDI and imposes fewer limitations. The evidence from this study suggests that FDI from globally influential countries with high gross domestic products (GDPs) (e.g. China, U.S.) challenges the ability of countries with lower GDPs (e.g. Cambodia) to protect their culture. Furthermore, the ability, or lack thereof, of the receiving countries to protect their culture is amplified by the existence and implementation of restrictive FDI policies imposed by their governments.
My study abroad in Bali, Indonesia, inspired this research topic as I noticed how globalization is changing the culture of its people. I learned their language and way of life which helped me understand the beauty and importance of cultural preservation. I believe we could all benefit from learning new perspectives as they could help us ideate solutions to contemporary issues and empathize with others.

UGC SPONSORED NATIONAL LEVEL SEMINAR ON RENEWABLE ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN RURAL SECTORS OF INDIA 29th and 30th January 2015 ORGANISED By P.G. & Research Department of Economics Government Arts College Melur Madurai – 625 106 In Association with Madurai Productivity Council Madurai. The College The college was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu in the year 1969 so as to provide higher education to the rural poor students. It is affiliated to the Madurai Kamaraj University and accredited by the NAAC by B+. It is in the northern part of Madurai and situated on the Madurai to Trichy National High way. It is 29 km away from Madurai Mattuthavani Bus Terminal and 34 km away from Madurai Railway Junction. The college is accomplishing the goal of the Government of Tamil Nadu of providing quality education to the students living below the poverty line, who are the first generation graduates and the downtrodden. The college works for the welfare of the nation, inculcating discipline in rural youth and cultivate national integrity among the students. The college has committed for the improvement of the standard of living of the people who are living in and around it. The college admits students in such a way so that it ensures social justice. The college introduced the second shift scheme of the government of Tamil Nadu and therefore provides chances to more number of rural students to get quality higher education. There is no second thought that the college is really a boon to the poor downtrodden people of the northern part of Madurai District. The Department of Economics The department of Economics came up in the year 1985-86. It conducts UG, PG and Ph.D. programmes in Economics. This Department has a very good Library. The B.A. Economics course is conducted in two shifts. There are eight faculty members in this Department and five have got Ph.D. Degree. The P.G. programme was started in 2011 – 12 and the Ph.D. full time programme was started in the academic year 2014 – 15. Theme and Sub- Themes The seminar will be on discussing the importance and the role of renewable energy technologies that will ensure sustainable development in the rural sectors such as rural household sector agricultural sector and industrial sector in India. Sub- Themes The seminar will focus on the following sub- themes. 1. Hydropower a) Large hydropower b) Small Hydropower c) Micro Hydropower 2. Solar Energy a) Solar Cooking b) Solar for Heating Water c) Solar for Generating Electricity. 3.
