2. The setting in the video is based in the United Kingdom, and the audience can work
this out as in this Close-up shot, we can see the London Eye in the Left side of the
shot and landmarks from Central London. This may determine that the girl was
living in the suburb's of the city.
3. Throughout the ‘Second a Day’ video, there are various props, that children use or play
around with everyday. Examples of these props are: A birthday cake, a teddy bear, a
mobile phone, a tablet, a gas mask, a pencil etc., of the many props used the ones that I
have addressed are the ones that we most commonly see little girls utilising.
These are five examples of the props used in the video.
4. Throughout the video, there costumes that are worn are very consistent, the main
characters, the little girl, wore her school uniform, casual clothing, and the refugee
clothing. This could show how she went from having a privileged life to constantly
being on the move and living in fear.
5. In the first few shots in the ‘Second A Day’ video, natural lighting from the sun is used.
However, towards the end artificial light such as lamps, lightbulbs and screens are used.
This could suggest that at the beginning of the video, the girl was very privileged as she was
able to go to school, and live a life without fear, so she pretty much had control of her own
life, but when the artificial light such as the candles, the screens and the lamps came in, this
could suggest that she was losing control over he life and her privileges were very limited.
This shot is an artificial lighting shot, as the lamp
in the top right corner assisted the lighting in the
shot making it a more high-key shot.
This a natural lighting shot, as the only lighting
that is affecting the shot is lighting from the shot is
the lighting from the sun.
6. Throughout the video the video non-diegetic sound is used in scenes where they was
an explosion and a car crash.
The diegetic sound is predominantly used in the video, for example, at the start of
video when the main characters family are singing ‘Happy Birthday’.
The cutting rate of the video is fast, as every cut lasts between 3-5 seconds.
7. In the video, the only type of shot we see is the mid-shot, the shot where we only see the head
and the shoulders of the character.
The camera movement in this
shot is hand-held, as there are
some scenes in the video where
the footage is shaky.
The focus in the shots are shallow
as the foreground where we see
the main character is sharp but
the background is faded/out of
focus.
The angle that we see in this
shot is eye-level angled shot the
whole throughout the video.
