The Chinese alligator faces threats of extinction due to habitat loss and poaching. It lives in slow-moving freshwater in parts of China, prefers temperatures around 30°C, and hibernates for 6-7 months. As an apex predator, it eats fish, frogs, rats, and other animals, but its hatchlings can fall prey to large birds and fish.
