“Eighty percent of success is showing up”
~Woody Allen
● Attend class! I know this seems silly, but this is the
first mistake people make. Being present is crucial –
and not just there, but mentally present (take notes,
ask questions, engage).
● Take advantage of on-campus activities and services
(each student gets free tutoring time weekly and
there are constantly workshops to help improve
your skills).
● Review your notes after class (fill in gaps, make
notes on what you don't understand so you can ask
the professor to clear it up for you).
● Keep up with your homework – write down your
assignments in a planner and make weekly “to-
do” lists to avoid missing assignments.
● Get your school things ready the night before
instead of the morning of class; this makes
mornings less stressful and prevents you from
leaving important things behind!
● Work ahead as much as possible and do not
procrastinate – your life will be much easier.
● Keep yourself motivated throughout the
semester! Don't let yourself get behind or
overwhelmed – if you start to feel anxious just
take a deep breath and prioritize.
● Make sure to set aside time for yourself every
day so you can do something relaxing to
prevent stress.
● If you start to get behind or don't understand
what is being discussed in class, make an
appointment with a tutor or your professor!
Don't wait until it's too late!
