Neon was born in London in 1898 to parents Morris Travers and William Ramsey. It has been used for many purposes since birth, mainly in advertisements and signs due to its bright reddish-orange glow. Neon belongs to the noble gases group and is often used in combination with other noble gases like helium, argon, krypton and xenon to create different colored lights. It also has applications in cryogenic refrigeration and lasers.
