In physics, motion is a change in position of an
object with respect to time and its reference point.
Motion is typically described in terms of
displacement, direction, velocity, acceleration,
and time.
Motion
Rest, in physics, refers to an object
being stationary relative to a particular frame of
reference or another object. When the position of a
body with respect to its surroundings does not
change with respect to time it is said to be "at rest".
REST
Types of Motion:-
Uniform
 A body is said to have
a uniform motion if it
travels equal
distances in equal
intervals of time.
Non-Uniform
 A body is said to have
a non- uniform motion
if it travels unequal
distances in equal
intervals of time, or
equal distance in
unequal interval of
time.
UNIFORM MOTION
NON UNIFORM MOTION
Speed is the rate of change of the position of
an object, eg.. 60 km/h
Speed is a scalar physical quantity; only
magnitude is required to define it.
SPEED
Velocity is the rate of change of the position of an object with
the specification of its direction too, e.g. 60 km/h to the north.
Velocity is a vector physical quantity; both magnitude and
direction are required to define it.
VELOCITY
Acceleration, in physics, is the rate at which
the velocity of an object changes over time.
Acceleration
Types of Acceleration:-
Uniform
 A body is said to have
a uniform
acceleration if there is
equal change in the
velocity of an object in
equal amount of time.
Non-Uniform
 A body is said to have
a non-uniform
acceleration if there is
unequal change in the
velocity of an object in
equal amount of time.
The Graphical representation of motion is done to
make our study of graphs more easier.

The equations of motion are a set of 3 equations that
can be utilized to predict unknown information about an
object's motion if other information is known.
The 3 equations of motions are:-
Equations Of Motion
Derivation of first equation of motion
Slope of the v - t graph gives the acceleration of
the moving object.
Thus, acceleration = slope = AB =
Derivation of second equation of motion
Distance = area of the trapezium ABDO
S = area of rectangle ACDO + area
of DABC
Derivation of third equation of motion
Graphical Derivation of Third Equation
S = area of the trapezium OABD.
Substituting the value of t in equation (1) we get,
As,
2aS = (v + u) (v - u)
(v + u)(v - u) = 2aS [using the identity a2 - b2 = (a+b) (a-b)]
If an object is moving in a circular path it
may have an uniform speed but not
uniform velocity.
Speed in circular motion is,
Uniform Circlular Motion
