Matter is defined as anything that occupies space and has mass and weight, characterized by three states: solids, liquids, and gases. Solids have a specific color, shape, size, and texture with tightly packed particles; liquids have no definite shape and particles that move freely; gases take the shape of their container and are typically tasteless and odorless. Examples of each state of matter were suggested for identification.
