The United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana denied the plaintiffs' emergency motion for a preliminary injunction to have John M. Schmitz's name placed on the November 2019 election ballot for mayor of Indianapolis. The court found that the plaintiffs did not provide sufficient evidence to establish a likelihood of success on their claims regarding violations of their constitutional rights and adequate legal remedies available. Consequently, the court determined it could not grant the requested relief to include the disallowed signatures on the ballot.
