SCAMPER is a design thinking technique that uses nine creative thinking tools to help develop ideas. The tools are: Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Magnify, Put to other uses, Eliminate, Rearrange, and Reverse. The mnemonic SCAMPER guides users to ask questions about their idea or product using each letter of the acronym. Questions include substituting or combining elements, adapting the idea to other uses or contexts, magnifying parts of the idea, eliminating unnecessary aspects, and rearranging or reversing the process or sequence.
