This document provides an overview of corporate-startup collaboration. It discusses why collaboration is important for innovation but also identifies some barriers that prevent more widespread collaboration. It finds that while many large firms recognize benefits, internal barriers related to strategy, structure, culture and processes can inhibit effective collaboration. On the startup side, the biggest challenges are mismatches in speed and coordination issues such as poor communication.
