2. SBC Research & Information Centre Profile
The SBC Institute is a non-profit organization registered under No. 441260,
specializing in Biomedical Information and Documentation, and Health Service
Management and Chemistry. The Institute was founded in April 1995.
The basic source of funding of the SBC Institute comes from the annual
membership fees of its members, along with European funding grants.
SBC is a member of the following:

• EBLIDA (European Bureau of Library, Information and Documantation

• Cooperation with Wills Eye Hospital in the United States, the German

The SBC Institute belongs to the LYRASIS Lbrary Network (ex-PALINET/SOLINET) in
the United States.
Services
The purpose of the Institute is to promote its activities in the sectors of
information and research.
More specifically, its goals are:
a) Providing information and research in the fields of Biomedical Science, Social
Sciences and Chemistry
β) Cooperating with similar National and International Organizations
γ) Participating in worldwide Programs and Congresses relevant to the science of
information and research in the fields that the Institute covers.
