Dear <Salutation>,
You have been such a good friend to our beloved residents here at Save the Chimps.
And I cannot tell what an honor it has been for me to get to know each of them personally
this past year, and to watch them enjoying the companionship and love of their families.
All of our chimpanzee are getting a second chance at life today, and—because of your
generous financial support—their days are filled with laughter, joy, friendship, and peace.
So I wanted you to be one of the first to know about a special opportunity to stay involved in
their lives in the upcoming year.
You see, our Board of Directors is so grateful for your support, they have agreed to match
any gift you make before December 31st dollar for dollar—up to $40,000. With this matching gift
offer in place, your year-end contribution right now will go twice as far in providing for the
ongoing needs of more than 250 chimpanzees residing at our sanctuary.
<Salutation>, that means your tax-deductible, year-end gift of $HPC will
automatically become $HPCx2. If you send $1.5HPC, it will double to $1.5HPCx2.
And an exceptional gift of $2HPC increases to $2HPCx2 to provide food, medicine,
shelter, enrichment and other critical needs.
I truly hope you’ll take advantage of this amazing opportunity.
Your previous support has meant so much to these majestic beings. Just this past year,
we opened a new Special Needs Play Yard. This vital space helps with chimpanzees who after
spending their entire lives in isolation and abusive conditions, understandably need a little more
space and care adjusting to their new environment, and the company of the other chimpanzees.
It also allows us room to take in more chimpanzees like our newest resident Iris.
After enduring years of isolation in a roadside zoo, Iris spent this past summer and fall
happily adjusting to the freedom of island living with her new family. It would warm your heart to
see Iris embracing friendships that you know she must have craved for so long.
Just four days after her arrival, when Iris was introduced to Abdul, her first new friend,
Image of Iris with Caption:
“Our newest retiree, Iris.”

Page Two
she greeted him with a kiss and he immediately began
grooming her.
Your year-end gift right now will not only double in
value it will help us strategically create even more space for
chimpanzees like Iris who need a loving, lifelong home.
In fact, a new federal listing for captive chimpanzees
as “endangered” has opened the door for us to rescue even
more of these magnificent beings from laboratories and cages to the freedom of island life. This
means we must redouble our efforts to expand our capacity as quickly as possible.
So the fact that your gift today will double in value is truly historic. Please take
advantage of this moment and give as generously as you can before December 31st.
As such a loyal friend, you also understand the cost of providing year-round care for
more than 250 chimpanzees is enormous. On average, it’s $16,000 per year, per chimpanzee.
But it’s a cost well worth paying when you see the joy on the face of someone like Henrietta.
In addition to giving the chimpanzees year-round food,
medical care, and shelter, we provide them with opportunities to
exercise and enrich their intelligent minds. Sometimes this includes
activities like painting and foraging. But it can also be as simple as
providing a blanket, stuffed animal or a toy doll.
When Henrietta received a human-like baby doll, her
motherly instincts were immediately triggered, and she began
playing with her doll the same way mother chimpanzees play with
their infants: lying on her back, lifting her baby up with her arms
and legs, and of course, bringing Henrietta tremendous joy.
Simply put: your year-end gift today will double in value to give us the flexibility to rescue
even more chimpanzees like Iris and Henrietta—and fulfill our promise to provide all of our
amazing residents with the permanent, lifelong care, and dignity they deserve.
Thank you for allowing your gift to go twice as far by responding before December 31st.
Sincerely,
Molly Polidoroff
Executive Director

4. P.S. Chimpanzees like Iris and Henrietta are extremely grateful for your support. Please take
advantage of this opportunity to have your tax-deductible, year-end gift go twice as far in
providing all of our chimpanzees with the best retirement possible. Thank you.
