Sarata-Monteoru is a village in Buzau County, Romania located about 20 km northwest of Buzau. It is known as a resort area due to its healing salt springs. The village is located in a basin drained by the Sarata River, between hills. It has a continental climate with hot summers. Underground waters in the area contain oil, bromine, iodine and salt, so bottled water must be used. The springs are used for medical treatments, with 15 springs located in the depression.
