Sarah Lucas is a British artist born in 1962 known for using everyday household items in provocative and unconventional ways to confront sexual stereotypes and gender roles. Some of her most famous works include Two Fried Eggs and a Kebab, which features fried eggs on a shelf, and Here We See the Artist Smoking Her 'First Fag of the Day' as She Squats on a Toilet. Lucas was a member of the Young British Artists movement in the 1990s and opened a shop called The Shop in 1993 with fellow artist Tracey Emin that sold their works. Throughout her career, Lucas has continued using humor and visual puns to challenge views of sex, death, and gender.
