She has had to deal with the unfair
stigma attached to mental health
issues for many years.
But now, brave 18-year-old Sarah
Barrett is battling back with an
awareness campaign urging people
to “fight the stigma”.
The City College Norwich
student, who lives with her family
near Southwold, has had post-
traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
for many years after being the
victim of a violent attack when she
was younger.
She was bullied at school, even
when people noticed cuts from
where she had self-harmed.
But now, as part of her extended
project qualification at college,
Sarah has created a campaigning
website to raise awareness about
mental health issues.
“The more people that know about
it, the better,” she said.
