The 2013 SANS critical security controls survey revealed that 73% of respondents are aware of and have adopted or plan to adopt the critical security controls (CSCs), primarily to improve enterprise visibility and reduce security incidents. The main barriers to adoption include operational silos and lack of training, with only 10% of respondents fully implementing applicable controls. Despite these challenges, high awareness among decision-makers presents an opportunity to leverage CSCs for long-term improvements in enterprise security.
