6. What is draping?
Draping Methods – Draping Method Is The Oldest Pattern Making Method And Is Generally Regarded As A Creative Approach .
In This Method A Piece Of Fabric Is Draped Directly On A Dummy / Dress From And Made To Fit To Achieve The Desired Look Or
Shape . The Fabric May Be Arranged Artistically In Folds For A Specific Design . This Muslin Pattern Is Then Transferred On The
Paper , And Corrections Are Made , If Any , And Then The Same Are Converted Into A Final Pattern .

9. The mandarin collar, derived from
the tradition Chinese costume,
provides a neat and tailored finish
for the neckline. Basically , it is a
fitted , raised band with two
rounded sides of the collar may be
straight, spaced apart , or
overlapped for closing.

10. The band collar is very similar to
the mandarin collar except that it
is cut on the fold at the center
front , and the neck opening is at
the back of the garment . edged
with lace, the band collar is typical
of the Victorian look. Untrimmed ,
it provide A smooth finish for the
neckline .

11. The convertible collar may be worn
open or closed, as illustrated. Cut on
the straight grain , it has a relatively
high stand ; the stand is somewhat
reduced when the collar is cut on the
bias . the straight grain convertible
collar is used to achieve a tailored
look and is especially popular for the
shirt wise.
