This document outlines the Music Model of Motivation, which was designed by Dr. Brett D. Jones in 2009. The model, known by the acronym MUSIC, represents the five key principles of motivation: eMpowerment, Usefulness, Success, Interest, and Caring. Each principle is associated with a letter that makes up the acronym. The document discusses how the model can be used to design instruction that motivates students, diagnose strengths and weaknesses of instruction, and research motivational factors. It also provides examples of how teachers can enhance each principle to motivate students to attend class eager to learn and stay focused.
