an attorney, Bruce Weyhrauch is involved with Rotary
International, an organization that includes more than 1.2
million people around the world working to make positive
changes in their local communities. The organization
identifies real, pressing problems that it can solve to
make a tangible difference in the everyday lives of
community members.
At the end of 2016, Samuel Owori was elected as the
head of Rotary International. Owori has belonged to the
Rotary Club of Kampala, Uganda, for nearly four decades
and has embodied the values at the core of the
organization, such as mutual concern and responsibility
for all people.

3. Rotary International
 The president-elect will become the official president of
the organization on July 1, 2018. Already, he has pledged
to focus on increasing the organization’s visibility and
building its ranks across the globe.
In Uganda, Owori has already played an instrumental
role in increasing the number of clubs from nine to 89
over the past three decades. He has also pledged his
dedication to eradicating polio, a paralyzing disease that
has been a focus of Rotary International since 1985. The
organization’s efforts have played a role in decreasing
polio incidence by 99.9 percent, and Rotary International
is committed to complete eradication through
immunization.
