INTRODUCTION
In our media studies lessons we have researched radio
stations, there target audience, the purpose of this
radio station and the things they broadcast. In our
groups we got given a radio station to look at our
group got given Sam FM, however Sam FM is quite
new so I was not able to find a lot of information about
it.
HISTORY
 Original 106 & the Coast – the station was
originally launched in 2006 as original 106
(solent) which was owned by Canwest, who
then sold the station to Celador in August
2008. It was replaced by The Coast 106 in
October 2008, initial RAJAR results were
encouraging with an increase, the weekly
reach stagnated at around 115,000 by Q1
2011.
CONTINUED…
Jack FM- Celador then rebranded the station as Jack FM,
to bring it in line with its sister station in Bristol, from
the 4th July 2011. At the time of the relaunch as Jack FM,
all prior presenters were removed from the station,
which switched to a format also used by the UK’s other
Jack FM stations.
MODERN DAY…
Sam FM- On 1st April 2015, the station was
