The proliferation of cloud-based applications continues across all industries, and for all kinds of reasons: time, money, ease-of-deployment, functionality, and maintenance. But while the cloud offers clear benefits, many organizations remain unsure about which solutions to point at various aspects of business operations, and wonder how to integrate with on-prem systems. That's the beauty of a comprehensive cloud strategy: all the benefits of cloud deployments, plus the power and flexibility of a managed infrastructure — without the guessing game.
Register for this episode of The Briefing Room to hear veteran Analyst William McKnight explain how cloud offerings are expanding, in turn creating opportunity for organizations to more quickly deploy and use valuable cloud-based solutions. He'll be briefed by Omid Sedaghatian of Actian, who will tout his company's DataCloud, an on-demand services platform powered by Amazon Web Services. He will explain how the Actian DataCloud Platform can enable line-of-business and developers to leverage the dynamics of Actian's data services and help across the spectrum of two major forces: big data and data that’s born in the cloud.

Enterprises need AWS partners to help them transform their businesses and utilize the advantages that cloud provides in creating business value. AWS will share with partners the business best practices, programs and resources for building and growing AWS-based solutions and services that address the needs of the enterprise. We will share with you the cloud perspective from the CIO point of view, from former CIO of Dow Jones, Stephen Orban. At Dow Jones, Orban introduced modern software development methodologies, reduced costs, and administered a cloud first policy by leveraging AWS and other SaaS partners. You will learn what the C-level needs from AWS partners and what will make you stand out as a transformational partner.
Garbage in, Garbage out. This truism is not new only for Big Data but it has become significantly more impactful as the move has begun away from traditional schema based approaches to more flexible and dynamic file system approaches. Many companies are finding that early stage successes rapidly become mid-term failures as data poured into Hadoop can no longer be managed and marshaled effectively, creating a cycle of reduced effectiveness and increased cost. This session covers how Big Data changes the way that information needs to be managed, how traditional approaches like MDM need to change and how new technologies and methods such as machine learning and business meta-data become crucial to the long term viability of a heterogeneous Big Data infrastructure.

As customer data grows massively, you need the tools to process data with the goal to answer important questions related to the success of your business. Traditional data processing tools have been effective in the past, but don't scale to grapple with the massive volume, velocity, and variety of data that's available to drive these decisions today. In addition, these tools required Salesforce customers to move data off-platform for processing. Salesforce provides a new tool - Data Pipeline - to help you process trillions of customer interactions on our trusted platform. Join us as we deep-dive and demo the Data Pipeline solution and cover interesting customer use-cases around Big Data Processing.

# Internet Security: Safeguarding Your Digital World
In the contemporary digital age, the internet is a cornerstone of our daily lives. It connects us to vast amounts of information, provides platforms for communication, enables commerce, and offers endless entertainment. However, with these conveniences come significant security challenges. Internet security is essential to protect our digital identities, sensitive data, and overall online experience. This comprehensive guide explores the multifaceted world of internet security, providing insights into its importance, common threats, and effective strategies to safeguard your digital world.
## Understanding Internet Security
Internet security encompasses the measures and protocols used to protect information, devices, and networks from unauthorized access, attacks, and damage. It involves a wide range of practices designed to safeguard data confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Effective internet security is crucial for individuals, businesses, and governments alike, as cyber threats continue to evolve in complexity and scale.
### Key Components of Internet Security
1. **Confidentiality**: Ensuring that information is accessible only to those authorized to access it.
2. **Integrity**: Protecting information from being altered or tampered with by unauthorized parties.
3. **Availability**: Ensuring that authorized users have reliable access to information and resources when needed.
## Common Internet Security Threats
Cyber threats are numerous and constantly evolving. Understanding these threats is the first step in protecting against them. Some of the most common internet security threats include:
### Malware
Malware, or malicious software, is designed to harm, exploit, or otherwise compromise a device, network, or service. Common types of malware include:
- **Viruses**: Programs that attach themselves to legitimate software and replicate, spreading to other programs and files.
- **Worms**: Standalone malware that replicates itself to spread to other computers.
- **Trojan Horses**: Malicious software disguised as legitimate software.
- **Ransomware**: Malware that encrypts a user's files and demands a ransom for the decryption key.
- **Spyware**: Software that secretly monitors and collects user information.
### Phishing
Phishing is a social engineering attack that aims to steal sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details. Attackers often masquerade as trusted entities in email or other communication channels, tricking victims into providing their information.
### Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) Attacks
MitM attacks occur when an attacker intercepts and potentially alters communication between two parties without their knowledge. This can lead to the unauthorized acquisition of sensitive information.
### Denial-of-Service (DoS) and Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) Attacks

• “Trace routes show that SF data is being highly scrutinized by the Great Fire Wall. SF
needs to work with China to get its traffic and IP addresses white-listed and may need to
remove references in code to Google, which may be triggering some of the heightened
scrutiny of the traffic.”
• “The problem with having a server based in China is that the Chinese government love
to hack everyone and everything. This would cause massive concerns from a Salesforce
perspective as their top priorities are Trust and Security. If you have a server in a country
whereby the Government are hacking it then you quickly lose the Trust and Security that
they have worked so hard to gain.
If speed is the issue then it is more likely to do with the internet connection or currently
technology setup rather than the server”
