Saint Patrick was born in Scotland (or Wales) in 387 AD and was kidnapped by pirates at age 16 and taken to Ireland where he was sold as a slave. After 6 years of caring for sheep, he had a dream telling him his ship was waiting and he escaped to Britain. He studied religion for 16 years in France before having another dream to return to Ireland, where he converted many to Christianity by using the shamrock to represent the Trinity. Saint Patrick died on March 17th, around 460 or 493 AD. His legacy is celebrated on March 17th with people wearing green, parades, parties, and the belief that four-leaf clovers bring good luck.
