Lesson Stages
1. Starter Activity – Quick Review (10 Minutes)
o Conduct a quick group activity to refresh students’ memory:
 Write a mix of regular and irregular verbs on the board
(play, go, see, eat, walk).
 Ask students to form sentences in the Past Simple:
 Positive: I played football.
 Negative: I didn’t play football.
 Question: Did you play football?
2. End-of-Unit Quiz (30 Minutes)
o Distribute the quiz.
o Quiz Structure:
1. Grammar: Fill in the blanks with correct Past Simple
forms.
Example:
 Yesterday, I _______ (go) to the park. → went
 She _______ (not eat) breakfast. → didn’t eat
2. Vocabulary: Match verbs to their correct past forms
(regular/irregular).
Example:
 Go → Went
 Walk → Walked
3. Listening: Play a short audio clip. Students write down
sentences using the Past Simple.
Example:
 “I went to the park and saw my friends.”
4. Writing: Students write a short paragraph (4–5
sentences) about what they did yesterday.
o Monitor the class during the quiz, ensuring a quiet environment.
3. Post-Quiz Activity – Pair Review (10 Minutes)
o Students exchange their papers with a partner and check answers
using an answer key.
o Discuss common mistakes as a class.
4. Wrap-Up Game – Verb Relay (5 Minutes)
o Divide students into two teams.
o Write verbs (e.g., play, see, eat, go, study) on the board.
o Teams take turns forming correct Past Simple sentences using a
verb.
