The narrator describes their summer vacation to the Gold Coast with their family. They stayed in a hotel with nice amenities near Sea World and Movie World. At Movie World, they went on a Scooby Doo ride and saw a 4D Shrek movie. They also visited Sea World and saw baby penguins, dolphins, and other cute sea creatures. They enjoyed playing games like shark smacking in the hotel games room before flying home, making it the best summer holiday.

1. S is for Summer

One summer I went to the Gold Coast on a plane
with my mum, Nana and sister Sarah. The plane
felt wobbly but it was cool because we went to see
our cousin. When we got to the Gold Coast, we
went to find a hotel. My mum saw a big and
beautiful hotel, so we all agreed on that one. It was great because it
was everything we wanted - a nice room, a nice
restaurant and a games room. It had all of that.
On the third day we went to Sea World and Movie
World. First we went to Movie World. At Movie
World the first ride we went on was the Scooby
Doo ride. The Scooby Doo ride was fun, but really
bumpy also. It went side to side and I was just glad
it didn’t go upside-down because it was too scary
for me, my mum and sister Sarah. Then I saw a
short movie about Shrek. It was in 4D. After the
movie, I felt like I wanted to see that movie again
and again and again and again and again and
again and again or get it on CD because there were
such cool things like dragons and ghosts and it was
in 4D. After Movie World, we went to Sea World. I
saw little baby penguins and other cute things like starfish, dolphins
and some fish. They were all so, so, so, so, so cute I could scream.
Then we went to the hotel. It was really cool because in the games
room the games were really cool. My favourite game in there was
when you smack sharks when they come up. I also played pinball,
dance steps, pool, shot gun and basketball.
The next day we went on a plane home.
This was the best ever summer holiday because I finally got to see
my cousin.
