Benjamin Franklin was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1706. He worked in his brother's print shop at age 12 and owned his own newspaper in Philadelphia at age 24. Franklin invented many important things like the lightning rod, bifocal glasses, and the Franklin stove. He helped write the Declaration of Independence and signed the U.S. Constitution. Franklin overcame obstacles like having to serve on a war boat away from his family. He died in his sleep in 1790 in his house in Philadelphia.
