Jackie Robinson was born in 1919 in Georgia and faced discrimination as the first black player in Major League Baseball, joining the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. He played football, baseball, basketball and track in high school and college in California. Robinson overcame threats from white people to become the first black player in the MLB and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, playing until 1962 and winning several awards for his accomplishments before passing away in 1972 in Connecticut.
