experience
combined
with
my
passion
for
depth
in
mathematics
learning
will
have
the
greatest

in
implementing
the

of

I
stand
out
as
a

has
led
to
my

that
focuses
on
deepening

As
a
Middle

Assistant
Principal
and
later
an
Elementary
School
Principal,
I
successfully
facilitated
development
of
curriculum
and
instruction
in
all
content
areas
at
the
schools
I
served
based
on
my
strong
pedagogical
content
knowledge,
instructional
leadership
and
professional
development
experience.
I
was
able
to
build
an
immediate
rapport
at
each
of
the
3
schools,
and
use
trusting
relationships
as
grounds
to
promote
change
in
thinking
and
instruction
in
math
and
science.
Teaching
lessons
for,
and
in
conjunction
with
K-‐8
general
and
special
education
teachers
was
an
anchor
point
for
allowing
further
discussion
and
coaching
on,
and
change
to
a
student-‐centered
environment
where
students
are
given
the
opportunity
to
make
sense
of
problems,
construct
viable
arguments
and
critique
the
reasoning
of
others
and
make
connections
to
existing
understandings
to
new
understandings
through
students’
representations
.
District-‐wide,
I
planned
and
facilitated
professional
development
sessions
in
“Effective

“Teaching
Meaningful

in
a

and
“Interactive

understanding
built
from
powerful
professional
development
in
my
earliest
years,
I
regularly
met
and
planned
with
several
teachers
who
were
either
new
or
struggling,
led
lesson
studies,
observed
lessons
and
provided
feedback
and
resources
to
support
teaching
math
in
a
way
that
brought
out
true
meaning
and
understanding
of
the
mathematics.
I
was
able
to
help
teachers
see
how
we
can
use
student
misconceptions
to
pull
out
the
math,
delay
answer-‐getting
for
the
purpose
of
developing
conceptual
understanding,
and
use
questioning,
student
collaboration
and
consensus-‐building
to
allow
students
to
think
critically
about
mathematics
and
appropriately
apply
prior
knowledge
to
new
situations.
We
strengthened
writing
in
mathematics
to
extend
beyond
simply
writing
out
procedures,
to
a
vehicle
for
opening
the
window
into
students'
thinking

Since
