Rwaza OrphanageLocation: Rwaza, RwandaWho they Serve: Orphans infant-15 years oldGrant Money: Will be used to train teachers and improve teaching effectiveness of current instructors– For example, $1500 pays for a 6-week teacher training course; $3 pays for one child’s lunch for a whole monthMission Statement: Provide a self-sustained education to children by providing opportunities to children who would not otherwise have the chance to gain an education
Imbabazi Orphanage:Through the Eyes of Children FoundationLocation: Mugongo, RwandaWho they Serve: 120 orphans, ages 8-17Grant Money: Will be used to buy cameras, film, and provide education; or WE can buy their pictures!1 picture costs $100, or 13 pictures for $1,000Everyone in the class could get a picture as a reminder of this class and what we have accomplished as a groupMission Statement: Through the use of cameras, the children take pictures of themselves, each other, and the things around them that they find beautiful and inspiring. Through the taking and sharing of these photos, the children “explore their community and find beauty as the country struggles to rebuild”.
