Rural business incubators are facilities managed by public, private, or nonprofit organizations that provide resources like office space, services, and networking opportunities to startup businesses. They aim to improve businesses' chances of success by lowering costs. Potential tenants include "lone eagles" - educated entrepreneurs attracted to rural areas' lower costs and beauty who can work remotely using technology. However, rural incubators face challenges like funding, facilities, and staffing. Successful incubators conduct feasibility studies, educate communities on entrepreneurship, and ensure technology and leadership support for tenant businesses. Examples show incubators creating jobs and renewed optimism in communities like Maddock, ND.

These are promising times for entrepreneurs in emerging markets. As our tracker demonstrates, launching new mobile products and services has never been faster or cheaper, and the pool of digitally savvy, connected consumers grows daily. Mobile device penetration in emerging markets continues to rise, thanks to falling handset prices and the increased utility of mobile platforms. Application development is expanding and accelerating. From Dhaka to Dakar, coders with a fast Internet connection and good ideas are responding to market pain points and driving innovation with new mobile apps. Many of these entrepreneurs are as ambitious as Silicon Valley’s early pioneers. They want to disrupt markets and change existing systems.

MMP - Eradication of Mosquitoes with DIY Bat Houses & Electronic Pest RepellentsGenerational Autonomy
[ FR ] Une solution permanente pour l'eradication du paludisme au moyen de nichoirs a chauve-souris et des repulsifs electroniques.
Aside from their agricultural benefits, bats are especially beloved for preying on some of the planet's most despised and dangerous insects: mosquitoes. This service is a major reason why many people set up backyard bat houses, especially amid the expanding threat of mosquito-borne diseases like malaria, dengue, chikungunya, West Nile and Zika.
Many bats, and almost all in the United States, thrive on an insect diet. A single bat can eat up to 1,200 mosquito-sized insects every hour, and each bat usually eats 6,000 to 8,000 insects each night. Their appetite for mosquitoes certainly makes a backyard more comfortable.
Unfortunately, about 40% of bat populations worldwide are in danger of going extinct. Several characteristics of bats cause them to be vulnerable. First, they are slow at reproducing. Most give birth to only one pup a year, which means they cannot quickly rebuild their populations. Second, most bats roost in large colonies. Bats living in temperate climate zones hibernate in caves or mines during the winter. During the summer, maternity roosts can house several million female bats and their offspring. Like putting all of your eggs in one basket, putting all your bats in one cave can result in disaster if the shelter is disturbed or destroyed.
