SharePoint 2013 Sandbox Solutions for On Premise or Office 365Ed Musters
SharePoint 2013 Declarative (no code) Sandbox Solutions presentation delivered Nov 5 at the Houston SharePoint TechFest. Were Sandbox solutions not “deprecated”? In this session you will learn that for the developer, Declarative (No Code) Sandbox solutions are still an extremely valid and completely supported way for you to create solutions that are either targeted for On Premise or Office 365. We will look at the types of features and solutions you can create with Visual Studio 2013 and the practical scenarios they enable. Examples include deployment of site columns, content types, list definitions, ribbon buttons, design assets, site pages with JavaScript, web templates, and more!
DocOps: Documentation at the Speed of AgileMary Connor
Presented at Keep Austin Agile 2016: How to we make documentation "Agile", given the Agile Manifesto? How do you get into the Definition of Done? What does "DocOps" mean, in the simplest and broadest terms? What should your requirements be for a DocOps transformation, and how do you find a tool stack that fits them? Where do you start, and how do you escape a waterfall reengineering of your legacy docs?
Using the DITA XML standard can bring enormous improvements in the efficiency of localizing documentation. Some organizations report efficiency gains of 30-50% over traditional desktop publishing systems, and use the savings to expand further into global markets. This session gives a practical set of steps and guidelines for delivering your content smoothly and quickly in multiple languages. We will cover how to mark up content, how localization affects reuse, how to work with translators, and issues in generating localized deliverables. You'll learn about the big picture of how translation works in DITA, what steps you need to include in your process in order to get high-quality results, and exactly how to avoid common pitfalls that tend to make localization tricky.

As delivered on Sept 21st in London at ICONUK
session abstract: The good old 'document' might not be sexy anymore, it is still often the work horse of the organization. Containing most of our business information and knowledge and often being the preferred way of distribution by users, customers and partners alike. Traditionally we used formal document management tools and the 'good old' file share for storing documents but with collaboration tools like teamrooms, discussion databases and Quickr, the rise of Enterprise social Networking tools like IBM Connections and the ease with which users can get external tools like OneDrive, Dropbox and many others, a lot of that has become muddled. I will take you through some of the scenario's of modern document management, talk about the struggles of migration and give you tools and insights that can help you device a strategy to keep both your users as well as auditors happy.

One of the greatest challenges to developing an API is ensuring that your API lasts. After all, you don’t want to have to release and manage multiple versions of your API just because you weren’t expecting users to use it a certain way, or because you didn’t anticipate far enough down the roadmap. In this session, we’ll talk about the challenge of API Longevity, as well as ways to increase your API lifecycle including having a proper mindset, careful design, agile user experience and prototyping, best design practices including hypermedia, and the challenge of maintaining persistence.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
