This document compares the roles of teachers in building youth power in China and India. It finds that China has been more successful in harnessing its large young population by having teachers play a key role in motivating students, helping them set goals, teaching discipline and teamwork, and guiding them towards productive careers. In contrast, India faces problems with youth unemployment and employability. For India to achieve faster economic growth like China, it argues teachers must play a greater role in empowering India's youth and preparing them to participate in the economy.
