Rural Development
 Perceptible change in rural mindset is development.
 Health, Hygiene, Education, Vocational training,
    Environment.
 40 villages, 64 schools,5 Tribal schools
 Low cost , innovative, modular, scaleable program
    design.
BMCWS-NGO with a difference
 Self Sustaining social innovator.
 Earning units are encouraged to support social
    upliftment.
 All the units are best in their category and still very
    affordable.
 Average cost in each unit is 30% of market rates
Professionally managed progressive
organization.
 Constant up gradation of all units is the norm.
 Must be the best in the category.
 Immaculate cleanliness an absolute must.
 Use of technology to increase the efficiency and
    quality.
 Staff training and quality audits regular features.
Business like attitude for charitable work
 Cutting cost without compromising qualities
 Modern technology to help improving
         administration
 Taking financial planning to different level by
         using innovations
 Giving limited financial freedom to every unit by
giving them monthly and yearly budgets
 Simplifying accountability by regular monthly
         audits of all units
Don’t hesitate to earn profit!!!
• We always felt that subsidy is a tool to leverage needs of
    needy.
• Distributing largess in a affordable class is not an NGO
    philosophy.
• Earning units make organization grow faster as you can
develop and execute project without waiting for finances.
• One completed project brings more ideas and more
    people in organization.
Social entrepreneurship
Social enterprunership
 Social entrepreneurship combines the passion of a
social mission with an image of business like
    discipline ,innovation, and determination commonly
associated with the high-tech pioneers of silicon
    valley.
Social Entrepreneurs are….
• Change agents in social sector, played by
    • Adapting a mission to create and sustain social value.
    • Recognizing and relentlessly pursuing new opportunity to
        serve that mission.
    • Engaging in process of continuous innovation, adaptation and
        learning.
    • Acting boldly without being limited resources currently in
        hand
    • Exhibiting a heightened sense of accountability to
constituencies served and for the outcomes created.
My personal experience
• I achieved this without any knowledge of -
    • Financial economics.
    • Accounting.
    • Management.
    • Administration.
    • Human resource development.
    • Marketing
    • Social work

Imagination is more important than knowledge
     Einstein
Sustainable social Entrepreneurship

              25 yrs of my work

     Environment and nutrition.

• Creating confidence in work force with constant
interaction to develop cordial relationship with union.
• Maintaining their salary dates even during difficult
    situation.
• Acknowledging their motivated participation by
    adequate and frequent salary rise.
• Transparent accounting system created the faith in
    management and its actions.
‘Human nursery’ – an experiment to
nurture individuals
• Peon trained as X-Ray technician.
• Watchman trained as hardware and
networking expert and then absorbed as peon
    cum technician on vacant post.
• Mali to driver to social worker with difference.
• Mali to approved and very popular MSCIT
    teacher.
Financial innovations
• Unsecured zero interest loans from individuals to
    execute projects that mattered.
• 5000 Sq. Ft. construction by Builder repaid in 15 Yrs of
    EMI.
• Water proofing of 4000 sq.ft. hospital.
• Creating assets by taking Differed donations for ongoing
    projects.
• Paying back part of fees paid preserving part for
    organization.
Administration
 Budgets and Audits of individual units
 Decentralized the organization by giving limited
    liberties to each unit.
 Transperant audit systems.
 Modular structure of program to allow necessary
    flexibility in execution.
 Training of existing staff to take newer
    responsibilities-maintains cohesive structure.
Education and vocational training.
 25 million subsidy to train 2500 women in Tailoring .
(Door step teaching in 40 villages over 5 yrs).
 2.5 million subsidy to 2500 students facilitating
    MSCIT course.
 39 rural youth trained in hardware and networking
    by TCS.
 100 Rural girls trained as DAI .
Nutrition and environment
 Planted 15000 banana plants in 7500 rural houses.
    (nutritional support to 7500 children).
 Cost per house Rs 20 only.
 Yearlong nutritional support to 7500 children in
form of 1 banana each to 2 children.
 Enhanced green cover to mother earth.
Computer training
 50 computers in our own central lab at
    Rajgurunagar.
 1-2 computers in 64 primary schools.
 6-10 computers in 11 highschools with free internet.
 All teachers have to clear MSCIT before computer
    instalation.
How this has helped the organisation
 The organization is now fit to be labeled as a social
    entrepreneurship.
 Not only is it sustainable, it is now, in a position to
    have its own CSR.(RURAL DEVELOPMENT
    PROGRAM).
 We can initiate project execution as soon as the ideas
are formulated and save valuable time.
Financial growth
assets
Pay structure
 Rs 485/pm(1985) is now Rs. 10000/pm.
 Bonus every year.
 Gratuity provident fund benefits as per govt. rules.
 Free medical treatment in our hospitals.
 Planning to add group life and medical insurance in
    coming years.
Way forward…

Come out of ME and MYSELF
                  And start
How was it possible….
 Driven by
     Passion
 Urge to give back to society.
 Clarity about goals to be reached.
 Ready to innovate and take calculated risks.
     To motivate by example.
 Accepting failures and learning from it.
Inhibitions to act ….
 Common thoughts in the mind are
 How do I manage to find the time?
 Where will the money come from?
 How do I volunteer in social field without knowledge?
 I have no knowledge so better not to do it.
 Let somebody with knowledge do it
True difficulties or just the reasons to…..
 It is not time investment but a thought investment.
 You create an idea and there are people to execute it.
 Money is available in plenty but credible channels
    are lacking.
 Urge to give back is itself a thought generator.
Be an entrepreneur
 Its truly simple.
 Does not take your valuable time.
 Use your knowledge to design and develop product.
 Donations in any form of thoughts ,money or efforts
    is welcome in the sector.
 Find your area of work and contribute.
 Need of an hour is to contribute
Your responsibility…
 Gigantic task of social upliftment.
 Only government cannot do it.
 Requires a participation by everybody.
 Help to create participatory society .
 Government is doing plenty. You need to walk the
last mile for it to reach the target
Thank You.
