• Fast forward to 2006:
– In February Stephen endures the most crushing defeat in

• Jamaica Mon! Great to visit, tough to work, and
even tougher to lead a workforce.
• Basic needs: Water, electricity not always
available.
• Crime prevented employees from getting to work.
Don’t tell me you have issues. These are as real as
they get!
• Figuring how out to coach the team! The “one
love” experience on hotel commercials was what
visitors wanted… this was not enough.

• We had to choose the method that enabled
the team to perform at their best.
• The power of trust and caring is how I got the
team engaged. But isn't that the goal for all
businesses: an engaged team of employees?

16. How I Used the GROW Model.
My Goal was simple:
Offer the best golf experience and best-
conditioned golf course on the island!
Reality: How to achieve the buy in? This had to
be a win-win. The better the service the more
return customers. Not “my club,” but “our club.”
Options: Presented a clear strategy
