Headhunted as a Claims Broker / Technician to process North American and International liability
accounts, predominately workers compensation and construction defect claims within the liability remit
across Lloyd’s and company markets. Reported to the Divisional Director.
Identified a collecting commission that the company had been previously unaware of, resulting in
the recovery of $60K from reinsurers for the benefit of BMS.
Collaborated on a compliance project to establish guidelines that were imposed on all teams
across the business; subsequently ensured compliant claims handover criteria from one business
unit to another.
Built relationships with third party administrators, clients, reinsurance and intermediary brokers;
obtained agreement to claims with minimum disruption and improved the quality of information
provided to reinsurers.
Carved a niche as a central reference point across several sections of the group and subject
matter expert in insurance, reinsurance and claims adjustments. Selected to support Director on
various contentious matters.

Recruited to support a team of nine technicians, tasked with the broking of North American and
International non-marine property and liability claims, together with a small marine and aviation
account in the Lloyd’s and company markets. Resolved outstanding queries.
Cleared an extensive broking backlog due to the sheer volume of claims; visited numerous
companies and syndicates across the London market over a period of eight months to negotiate
the settlement of claims.

Initially appointed to support the quarter close for marine syndicate 744 on a temporary basis and
offered a permanent role within three months.
Managed various allocated years of account and ensured appropriate reinsurance recoveries were
made.
Monitored progression of losses and responded to all broker queries in a timely manner.
Liaised with inwards adjusters on large losses; maintained excellent communication with syndicate
reinsurers; assisted several technicians on syndicates 62, 1861 and 1242.

Assigned to support the migration of Marlborough marine syndicates into Eastgate (acting as a subcontractor

Rapidly seconded to manage the outward reinsurance processes for various marine losses, plus
the identification of reinsurance policies for the recovery of asbestos and pollution losses.

Initially monitored losses from multiple sources on behalf of the non-marine syndicate 1129 for
outward recovery purposes, and latterly managed various years of account for the outward
reinsurance recoveries of marine syndicate 744.
Collated and aggregated all incoming loss information and identified the correct outward
reinsurance policy to apply losses; ensured appropriate reinsurance recovery.
Collaborated with the IT team to simplify some of the reinsurance tasks and to run effective reports
to speed up the process; monitored all claims movements across the programme.

Transferred to the International division and promoted to manage a team of eight insurance
professionals. Cleared large backlog of unbroked International claims and obtained agreement from
insurers to the settlement of claims relating to personal accident, kidnap and ransom for a top-tier blue
chip client base and high net worth individuals.

Initially recruited on a temporary basis and offered a permanent role within six months. Undertook
face-to-face negotiations with syndicate and company claims adjustors to obtain their agreement to
