Initiated a large accounts program for a company that was traditionally a middle to small market excess workers
compensation underwriter. Developed a volume of written new and renewal business of $91,000,000 in six years. This
book consists of such accounts as Kellogg’s, Nordstrom, Deere & Co., Columbia University and Emerson Electric.
Responsible for business development and marketing for additional large accounts on a national basis. Worked with
senior management on exploring potential acquisitions. Currently supervising 10 underwriters with a volume of
$220,000.
Brentwood Services, Inc., Nashville, Tennessee 2003

Brought in to establish underwriting guidelines and systems for independent brokerage/TPA firm. Additionally explored
the possibility of starting up an insurance company. Performed due diligence on potential company purchase as well as
directing the acquisition and implementation of a new underwriting system.

Established and led a start-up underwriting management firm specializing in excess workers’ compensation and
employer’s liability insurance for qualified self-insurers, with an emphasis on group and association business.
• Established a reinsurance program and negotiated a major underwriting contract with CGU.
Wexford Group, San Francisco, CA 1986 - 1996
Executive Vice President
Served as one of three founding principals of start-up operation specializing in excess workers’ compensation and
employer’s liability insurance for qualified self-insurers, and took role of Vice President of Operations. Developed
underwriting guidelines, internal audit procedures, and systems development process. Handled all negotiations with
issuing carriers, including MGA contracts. Prepared treaty exhibits for renewal presentations with domestic and foreign
reinsurers, including negotiations with Lloyds underwriters and syndicates.
• Led negotiating team on sale of Wexford to Aon Corporation in 1992.
• Led regulatory compliance, form filings in 47 states, and maintained proper licenses for underwriting personnel.
