How India has changed through digital and which opportunities for companies are coming out of this development. Presentation held hat Hamburg Chamber of Commerce in the India Week 2015
Understanding how a product will be used is a key skill for software professionals. In the past this knowledge has come from reading requirements documentation and working with others in the development team and the wider business that are responsible for the product design. But is this enough to understand how the product will be used?
Mobile users are different. The emotional attachment people have with their mobile devices is far greater than with websites and desktops. Their expectations are greater and it’s far easier to make their voices heard through application store feedback.
This presentation will explain the typical ways in which mobile users are different and what we can do in order to understand them better.

This presentation will explain the typical ways in which mobile users are different and what we, as testers, can do in order to understand them better so that we can test better. We’ll look at how to use persona’s and profiles and see how to use industry data and analytics.
You’ll learn how to work more closely with other roles within the team such as UX and Design in order to test more effectively. And let’s not forget about the users themselves; we’ll also look at how you can engage the users directly and work with them to ensure that mobile applications are as good quality as they can be. You’ll leave with the enthusiasm and knowledge to take your mobile testing to greater heights.

The authors argue that individuals, rather than family solidarities, have become
the primary unit of household connectivity. Many households do not operate as
traditional densely knit groups but as more sparsely knit social networks where
individuals juggle their somewhat separate agendas and schedules. At a time
when many people enact multiple, individual roles at home, in the community
and at work, the authors ask: how do adult household members communicate
with each other? How do adult household members use information and communication
technologies (ICTs) to organize, communicate and coordinate their leisure
and social behavior both inside and outside the home? Interviews and surveys conducted
in 2004–2005 in the Toronto, Canada area of East York show that
households remain connected – but as networks rather than solidary groups.
The authors describe how networked individuals bridge their relationships and
connect with each other inside and outside the home. ICTs have afforded household
members the ability to go about on their separate ways while staying more
connected – by mobile phone, email and IM – as well as by traditional
landlines. In such ways, rather than pulling families apart, ICTs often facilitate
communication, kinship and functional integration.

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

18. Research Notes
I am always confused where to go.
Connectivity at hotel is very critical for me.
Running out of cash is troublesome, but I do not
prefer to carry too much cash due to safety reasons.
I consider local cusine as a part of my travel
experience but not at the cost of my health.
In flight services are always important, but cost is a priority.
I always value reccommendations about local food.
At certain time and location, finding transportation
becomes very difficult.
I dont like to spend too much time in transit.
Cost is always a factor in choosing my destination.
19. Research Notes
Finding best bargains is very challenging.
Frequently used local words are very valuable.
At the end of my trip I find it difficult to select
best photos from so many photos that I took.
I know there are always more interesting places which are
not avilable in travel books.
I always have to carry my laptop, because I take so
many pictures and have to empty the memory card
every day.
Due to heavy roaming charges I miss out on lot of
information available online.
Some times the local weather suddenly changes,
making me change my plans. This is not very
convenient.

How might an international traveller
have a fulfilling and engaging travel
experience.
32. Why a board game?
Games make you leave your laptops and mobiles to huddle around the board.
Serious gaming is fun yet productive.
It helps you open your mind while doing serious tasks.
Role playing helps bring real users to life on your design desk.
and finally
Games help stimulate Creative Thinking in a playful manner.
37. How to play Rippplr
Step-1:
Player puts the persona in the centre and rotates it.
Step-2:
From the top of the RIPPPLR deck, count the number and pick that card.
Brainstorm ideas for this persona in this situation for 2 minute.
Step-3:
If it was a Wild Card, then pick the relevant wild card . Brainstorm ideas for
this persona in this situation with additional wild card constraint for one
minute.
Step-4:
Next players turn. Shufle RIPPPLR desk. Start from Step-1.
40. We observed that most brainstorming
sessions fail because:
Problems are poorly framed
Brainstorming turns into critique
Usual suspects say the usual things
Feeling that “These ideas will anyways get killed”
Rippplr - How it came about
41. Starting with right questions will lead you to the right answers.
Time constraint forces you to think fast.
Spending a lot of time on one issue will lead to reduced focus.
Cycling through personas quickly will keep the focus on the right questions.
Planning and moderating the session by preparing issue cards leads to
richer quality ideas.
Adding edge cases through wild cards creates idea inversion or idea
refinement.
Roleplaying helps reinforce the users perspective.
